TRIBAL MEDICINE @ the ocean rooms

Tribal Medicine continue to march on through 2008 supplying one of the more imaginative parties Brighton has seen in recent years - completely transforming the basement of the Ocean Rooms into a tribal abyss of nocturnal hedonism, we’ve seen the likes of Freq Nasty, Micky Slim, Aquasky and The Rogue Element, absolutely rock the floor alongside some of the finest underground DJs around in an eclectic mash up of styles...
The last 12 months have seen the Lot 49 record label go from strength to strength, combining the breakbeat its always been known for with the modern insurgence of dirty electro house thats sweeping the clubs right now, and we welcome down from the label Dylan Rhymes who’s current productions are at the forefront of the driving end of the sound, Blende, a rising star of the scene having added his magic to the recent bomb - ‘Stars’ co-produced with Rhymes and 30HZ who has released a string of tough and experimental breaks over the years before Lot 49 picked up his fantastic new ‘Electric Sheep’ LP and its club smash ‘Daddio’ single.
Kai_1 and Rhythm Logistics are unleashing their new AbstraktSouL project on Brighton for the first time in preparation for festival performances this summer, combining a live laptop set with 3 dex, f/x and a whole lot more while resident Gav Ravenous and good friends Chris Shea and Nechto from the Psychosis Soundsystem are 3 of the finest DJs to have rocked the underground scene over the last decade.
Warming the night up we’ve Tony Slackshot whose NSB radio show and funky mix of electro, soul and breakbeat always hits the spot.
The South Coasts renowned Psy Co party will once again be supplying Tribal Medicine with a night of full on Psychedelic Trance to compliment the underground funk of the basement and we’ve a couple of trend setters from the UK scene DJ Kristian from Transient Records and DJ Zefer from the Life Festival playing alongside Matt Loraine, Andy Leppard, Genetix, Audlay and Ryan Bushell.
If it all gets a bit much there’s the penthouse cocktail lounge with the jazz, soul and house grooves of the Brothers Perv – masters in laidback bar vibes, and as always we’ve live percussion, beatboxing and lyrics supplied by the Tribal Medicine regulars not to mention trimmings your mothers xmas roast would be proud of, with Funktion 1 Sound, Lazers, Visuals, Tribal UV Decor, Sexy Cavegirl Fruit Bearers, Free CDs, Table Magic and one hell of a vibe!
