Great to be back! :o)

After an enforced absence of several months from Hard South I was climbing the walls to be back tonight. I had almost forgotten what a great, friendly place the Honey Club can be. Not just the promoters, DJs and punters, but the door and bar staff are all really cool and friendly and create a good atmosphere.

The number of punters was down on the usual this month – perhaps post-Pride recovery or some other blip – but what the crowd lacked in quantity it more than made up for in quality. Some old regulars who hadn’t been for months and months were back tonight – hi to Lara Crazy-Rat, Emma, Kabbie, Sam, Marie among others; was great to see you back.

It was a very friendly crowd, and you might notice if you look carefully at the gallery uploaded by Clive HoneyclubGuy that young sexy women outnumbered us blokes by more than two to one!!!

DJ Drummer and Salerno kicked us off which what sounded to me like a large tranche of upfront hard tuneage. Don’t forget, boys and girls, their homage to the gay origins of hardhouse, ‘Mince Pie’ (I think I’ve got that right ;o), is out very soon on the very wonderful Flashpoint Records.

Next up was scary-looking guest Adam M playing the fiercest and most hi-Oktane classic hardhouse on the planet – ‘Street tab’, ‘The leader’, ‘Meltdown’, ‘Access’, ‘Beyond Motion’ - they were all there (apart from ‘Are you all ready’, eh Adam! ;o), plus some more contemporary top tracks, including his own ‘Tango’ and the Defective Audio stunner ‘Freakin it’.

Oo-er!!

Karim was the main attraction and kicked off with his smash hit ‘Sharona’ (‘Dance with me!’). Other highlights included his orgasmic remix of TDV ‘Burning up’, the head-banging, fist-waving hoover assult of 'Underage', plus a couple of his re-mixes I hadn’t heard before, ‘Hooked’ and ‘Lost in Love’.

He has great presence and crowd interaction and the crowd responded with the same energy and enthusiasm that he gave out. He ended with another oldie, ‘Who is Elvis?’

Our resident Krunchie is the man to end the night. He seems to be able to hold his own against any of the top hard DJs we have had in the history of the club – Farley, Glaz, Karim: a remarkable achievement. As was required after 3 hours of the toughest tunes, he really hammered it out to keep us stomping to the end, with plenty of fresh new tracks, the banging percussion mixed well with occasional moments of trance. He finished with one of his and our favourites, the pre-hardhouse hoover classic that inspired the original hard generation, Commander Tom’s ‘Are am eye’.

Next Hard South is our SIXTH birthday, so put it in your diary and be prepared for something big and special!!!

Sounds like you all had a wicked night! XD Hardsouth is still the best hard dance night on the south coast in my opinion!

As for the 6th Birthday...sounds like something this dark shadow might make an appearance for!
