****STATIX****
( screwloose / hench )
Back in 2008, 4 members. Eddie, Ross, John & MC 'Frilla' formed Statix, and it wasn’t long before the world took notice of the somewhat refreshing sound the guys were bringing to the dance-floor. Radio plays from the likes of Caspa, Rusko & Crissy Criss followed a ‘mini-mix’ request on the infamous Mary Anne Hobbs Radio 1 show. Soon releases came on one of the most exciting and contemporary record labels to emerge from 2009, ‘Screwloose Records’ where they would join highly desired up and coming releases from the likes of KOAN Sound & Asa.
But as dubstep became more mainstream, The competition got tougher. They soon realised that a cunning master plan was needed to get them to the top, so they slowly slipped into the shadows to work on their sound. 9 months later, Statix are about to unleash the type of bass music the scene has been missing. Catchy vocals, Heaven sent synth lines, but keeping the basslines dark and nasty! Look out for the anthem that is 'Anymore' co-produced by the infamous Eddie K, seeing a release on H.E.N.CH in november 2011. Keep an ear out for forthcoming tracks on Screwloose records featuring 'Dr.Syntax' & 'Metropolis' (Foreign Beggars) amongst remixes for 'Zanetic' and Katie Sky and hold tight for the first ever static Drum n Bass colaboration with Hospital sensation 'N3gus'.
With a well coordinated approach to live performances coupled with superb DJ skills and jaw dropping MC talent this is an act not to be missed. Even with the somewhat dark sound the group can unleash through a sound-system, the future is most definitely bright for Statix. And with a live performance in the works, things are about to go from sick, to slick.
****STANZA****
( Hospital Records / Mainframe / Allsorts )
Originally from Birmingham, Stanza blew up on the Bristol DJ circuit whilst studying at University in 2004. Playing out regularly, he won numerous DJ competitions including those run by Innovation In The Sun/Random Concept (judged by Friction), Bedlam/Valve and Drum&Bass Arena/Ministry Of Sound.
No longer content with just playing music and having developed a keen ear for what sounds good, Stanza has redirected his energy into creating his own tracks landing him releases with Hospital Records, Mainframe, Allsorts, Diffrent, Influenza Media and Think Deep.
Stanza's growing profile as a producer paired with his reputation for delivering energetic and creative dj sets have seen him maintain a busy diary of gigs across the UK & Europe. Not only that, he was recently voted 3rd in Best Breakthrough DJ at the 2012 Drum&Bass Awards.
***NOCTURNAL***
( Combination Massive )
Nocturnal has been involved in the ‘Drum and Bass’ scene since 2007, and found a passion for ‘Dubstep’ in mid 2009. Nocturnal started mixing at the ripe age of 16, buying his first set of 1210’s on New Year’s day 2008. He then went on to learn the art of beat matching and was booked for his first gig in early 2009 at a local event in his then home town of Clevedon. After buying a set of CDJ’s in mid 2009, Nocturnal started to explore different genre’s of Bass Music, and developed a big love for ‘Dubstep’ and ‘Grime’. Wanting to further improve his mixing skills, Nocturnal bought a 3rd CDJ and developed his own style of fast beat matching and Bassline Juggling.
2011 saw Nocturnal becoming one of the first members of Bristol’s ‘Combination Massive’ who in the last 12 months have made a good mark in the Bristol Bass Music scene. Stepping up with his Music Production, Nocturnal has been working with some fantastic vocalist’s such as ‘Frilla’ and ‘Luca d’ which has led onto him remixing his first track for ‘Betamorph Records’ producer ‘Sparc’. After only 1 and a half years of producing Nocturnal now has a healthy back catalogue of track’s waiting for release on various labels.
Now in 2012 Nocturnal is starting to be recognised in Bristol and the South West for his attention to detail and intricate 3 deck mixing. He mixes both ‘Drum and Bass’ and ‘Dubstep’ getting booked for night’s including ‘Bedlam’, ‘UKF’, ‘United Sounds’, ‘Inspiration’, ‘Quality bass’, ‘Innovation,’ ‘Valve’, ‘Bar Rage’, ‘Skanker’ and many more.
