Now firmly established as one of the biggest and best free events in South West England, and with a growing national profile, the EDF Energy Bristol Harbour Festival is a highlight of Bristol's outstanding summer events programme.

The festival pays tribute to the enormous importance the docks, harbour and waterways have played, and still play, in the life of the city. It also acts as an annual opportunity for Bristol to showcase the many talents and interests of local people, and the region, as well as the chance to attract national and international performers to the city.

Once again the festival will open with a free concert on the Friday evening, starting with a performance from the Hannover Seaman’s Choir at 6pm - a German choir who are in Bristol as part of the city’s celebrations marking 60 years of twinning and friendship. They will be followed by Bristol's very own reggae and dub legend, DJ Derek who will be warming things up from 6.45pm before the legendary Toots and the Maytals - one of the greatest Jamaican reggae and ska bands of all time - take to the stage at 8pm. This promises to be one of the highlights of the festival and one of the best ever concerts to take place on the harbourside.

Continuing through the weekend, visitors can enjoy a fantastic spectacle of free entertainment, including music on five stages, dance performance, circus and street theatre, markets, and the famous Saturday night fireworks display... all set against the once-a-year sight of the city’s historic harbour filled with hundreds of ships and boats of all sizes.
