Farewell MC Fugitive!!
As you guys know I do have a dance, I might even stay dancing for a few tunes, but more than likely I end up wearing some form of stupid footwear that cripples me in some way! And the fact that I am the 'Lady' of hardcore!! And feel a bit past it!!??...... but the last time I saw Cruze I ended up dancing for the whole set and ended up with severe blisters on my manicure toes for weeks!! With this scarred in my mind I dusted off my wedgey trainers from the dark depths of my wardrobe and headed off to Weston-super-mare.
This was to be the last Q-Bic at BS23 for a while before it moves to its new home at H20 and the last time we would see the MC Fugitive appearing anywhere! And it was his birthday to boot!

As we walked in the place was already packed out, at this point realising that we had just missed DJA playing an old skool set! GUTTED!! Bishop was on with his unmistakable set which included his favourite and ever present, ‘Elysium’ and with the distinctive vocals of Fugitive screaming ‘do you see what I see’, the floor was swaying with the stomping ravers in the humid atmosphere and everything was heating up nicely!!

By the time Ralph & Outburst hit the decks the temperature was sizzling! There was just a smiling, sweaty mass of bodies writhing like we had won the world cup, not just been kicked out!! With Ralph's un fault able mixing and Outburst's choice of tunes such as ‘U R in my dreams’, ‘need me’, ‘taking me higher’ and ‘still the one’, the duo obviously have a knack of delivering a good set together, a hardcore camaraderie perhaps? This is the second time this weekend I have seen them back to back and they are most defiantly suited!

At this point Ralph presented Fugitive with a gold plated mic as a final send off and birthday pressy from everyone at Q-Bic, a sad point, after the ten years that this MC has been entertaining ravers up and down the UK, but things inevitably and always do come to an end!

The Q-Bic favourite Frantic was up next with one of the best sets I have heard from him yet! And I seem to have heard a fair few of his sets! He looked relaxed despite the soaring temperatures and delivered a fine set of tunes including one of my favourites at the moment Recon’s ‘feel the bass line’ and his very own ‘spending my time’ which I think? was the Sy remix which has an awesome D&B break!! When are we going to see this tune released???

And finally the point of the night I had been saving my dancing feet for! Cruze, for me this was defiantly the best set of the night and worth the wait in the excessive heat! What can I say? The guy is just bonkers!! Totally enjoyable to watch and listen to! Feeding off the crowd he enlightened us to a few of his own tunes including ‘you will never know’ with the remix of Womack and Womack’s ‘tear drops’, such a top, top tune! Thrown in for good measure and I did not leave the dance floor, I couldn’t leave the dance floor!! A total rarity!! Something I don’t think has happened since Scott Devotion at Hardcore Distortion!! And then the hour was over! And with the final tune of Gavin G’s ‘believe’ I returned to my chair, my legs aching and sweating like I had been in a sauna!!!

Screw-E was up next with a set of some of Fugitive’s favourite tunes, shame he was too wasted to hang around for it!! But we did for most of it at least; we will definitely be seeing this guy here more often!

And so we headed of into the clammy night for our drive back to Bristol with our ears ringing and clothes still damp! As we leave the last Q-Bic at BS23 for a while having seen the last ever Fugitive set and pondered that maybe it is a new start, a new start of some great things to come, rising from the ashes, the Q-Bic phoenix will return, bigger, brighter and more beautiful than ever!! For the next few months we will see it at the H20 club!! And I can’t bloody wait!!
