Prominence, the newest adventure from the Funk Boat boys, continues with its monthly residency at Club Cuba (above Fiesta Havana), St Nicholas Street, Bristol on July 29th 2006.

Maintaining its promise of showcasing some of the UK & World's finest DJ's & artists, many of whom will be making their Bristol debuts, Prominence is extremely proud & excited to announce that headlining this event will be none other than Toolroom's very own Martijn Ten Velden.

Martijn has slowly become one of the is countries most saught after producers. His works both individually and through collaborations have been consistently supported by leading names such as Seb Fontaine, Pete Tong & Smoking Jo, to name but a few.

MTV experienced huge success through his collaboration with David James under the guise Audiodrive, seeing countless productions and remixes featuring in the UK buzz chart. In 2003, he first collaborated with Toolroom main man Mark Knight, a partnership that has produced huge tracks such as Acid Test, and instant classic remixes of tracks such as Brad Carter - Morning Always Comes Too Soon and Soul Central - Strings of Life.

Martijn's individual remixes of Mark Knight - Insatiable and Jesse Garcia - Lets Get Happy have also received industry wide acclaim, making him one of the hottest properties around (see full biography below).

The event itself will be run in conjunction with Bristol's premier floating party The Funk Boat, which will immediately preceed the night and act as a pre-party for Prominence.

In previous years, the Funk Boat after parties have proved a road block, with as many as 400 people all vying to get in and lock outs being experienced as early as 11pm. it is anticipated that with the added stature Prominence will create by hosting the after party, all previous experiences will be far surpassed.

Joining Martijn Ten Velden at the top of the bill for this event will be Chicago residents Mark davis & Ian Cole. Fresh from their headlining set on the boat, Mark & Ian will be showcasing why Chicago has grown to become one of the most respect nights in the city, and they will be joined by Prominence & Funk Boat residents Luke Langson, Alex Clark & Will Bailey for a night of pioneering upfront house & cutting edge electro tinged beats.

Not stopping there, the venue will be transformed for each event in to a stylish regality in keeping with the concept behind the night. As well as the fantastic DJ line up on offer, you will also experience stunning lighting & visuals, a quite unbelievable sound system, professional dancers, greeting staff, live drums/percussion & most importantantly one of the friendliest, clued up & euphoric crowds you are likely to come across anywawhere, all hell bent on having the party of their lives!

Doors will open at 10pm, with the event running until 4am. What's more, all attendees will receive a stamp allowing them concession price entry in to the official after party at the Fez Club next door, starting at 4am (See separate press for details of this event).

Door prices for Prominence are as follows: Funk Boat attendees (with band) £5 before 11pm, £7 after. Non Funk Boat attendees (or no band) £7 before 12am, £8 after.

Martijn Ten Velden Biography

London based producer, writer, remixer, engineer and all round studio talent, Martijn ten Velden is most known under his production guise Audio Drive, the inimitable DJ, Production and Remix duo he formed along with David James, which has been hot property since 2000. Together they remixed the likes of Ms Dynamite 'Booo!', Michael Moog 'You Belong to Me', DB Boulevard 'Point of View', Agent Sumo 'Why' as well as Eddie Grant, the Sugababes and Tom Novy, to name a few. They also co-produced (with Grammy Award winner Rick Nowels) a track for Kylie called "Whenever you feel like it"' for the Scooby Doo Original Soundtrack CD. The pairs split last year has seen Martijn continue what he started: producing and performing quality house grooves which have become his signature style.

He is also a very well respected DJ and last summer Martijn opened the DJ Magazine Arena at the infamous Opening of Space-Ibiza, becoming the first Dutch DJ to do so - playing to a hyped up crowd in the converted car park. The summer also saw Martijn in Malta headlining at The Fresh Master Class Festival alongside Tiesto and Sven Vath. In November he flew off to Stockholm where he played at "Another Twisted Halloween" alongside Mr C and Sister Bliss. The joys of the international DJ life are no stranger to him and further high profile European gigs include Club Shocking and Villa Mirabeau in Milan, Milkbar in Munich, Fubar in Beirut, Paradiso & Milkyway in Amsterdam and The Fridge in Abu Dhabi. In London, Martijn has played at Ministry of Sound, the Cross, Fabric, Turnmills, Heaven, AKA and many other clubs. He has also recently been taken on by Ministry of Sound to do their international club tours.

On the production front, 2003 was a very busy year for Martijn, both with Audio Drive productions, some new production collaborations and his DJing. We saw him release "Here I Come" under the guise Filthy Rockers on Rococo Records - Boy George's label. In the summer he released the "Voodoo Magic EP" on Fluential, with a follow up now in waiting. In August Martijn reached number 1 in the Hype Chart with the Audio Drive remix of "Tide of Dreams" by Prophets of Sound, on INK Records. In November he released a remake of the classic 'Come Get My Lovin' by Dione, under the guise DJMTV on Fantastic House. Just recently Roger Sanchez made the track 'New York's finest' on his Release Yourself Radioshow.

At the end of 2003, Martijn started collaborating with Mark Knight and their first production, "Our House EP" was released on DTPM in November. It reached number 6 in the BuzzChart, number 8 in the HypeChart and had massive radio support from Pete Tong. At the special launch party for "Our House" they played a blistering four deck set at Fabric. Their next production was "Acid Test", released on Fantastic House in March 2004, with radio support again from Tong plus Seb Fontaine, Annie Nightingale, X-press 2 and hailed by Steve Lawler as his biggest track of 2003. Martijn and Mark's latest project 'The Hedgetrimerz' has just been released on Toolroom Trax. It reached no. 10 in the Buzz Chart and has already had seven plays by Seb Fontaine on Radio 1. On the personal front, Martijn has also just signed his first solo endeavour 'the Sureshot EP' to Nocturnal Groove, the record label of no 1 UK chart topping, 'Lola's Theme' fame. It's already reached number 8 in the Buzz Chart, with support from Tom Stephan, Smokin Jo, Shamus Haji, Beginnerz, Cricco Castelli, and it's due for general release soon.

On the remix front Martijn and Mark have been in much demand with their remix for Allister Whitehead's classic cover of Nightcrawlers "Let the Music (use you)' creating a real hype at this years WMC and was heavily promoted through hot house label, Toolroom Records to the city of beaches, babes and bubblin' tracks. It consequently reached the much deserved chart position of no. 2 in the Miami Buzz Chart and single of the week in Update.

Continuing on their remix success stories, Martijn and Mark have also reworked the Joey Negro (aka Dave Lee) production Erro "Don't Change" for Z Records which reached number 3 in the Hype Chart. Their remix of Steve Lawler's "Lost" on Subversive reached number 4 in the Buzz Chart and was single of the week in Update Magazine. Martijn and Mark have also noteably remixed Brad Carter's 'Morning always comes too soon' for Positiva, which reached the no. 1 spot in the Buzz Chart and 'Strings of Life' for Defected, which reached the no. 1 spot in the Buzz Chart the week after. Both of these tracks proved festival/Ibiza hits over the summer and became instant classics in the eyes of many.

Martijn's diverse musical influences coupled with his love for all that is quality in house music, will ensure he continues his rise to the top. 2006 is definitely going to be the year for the flying Dutchman!
