PROMINENCE continues with its monthly promise of delivering some of the finest DJ's and artists from across the globe, many of whom will be making their Bristol debuts.

On Saturday 28th October 2006, we are extremely proud to present one of the finest and most respected engineers in the land, FUNKAGENDA.

Owner as well as in-house engineer of highly respected record label Groovedigital, and resident of the Nitrogen Room at Godskitchen, Funkagenda is one of the UK's brightest stars. The list of names who have sought his technical expertise reads like a who's who of the game:

Subliminal, Positiva, Big Love and Toolroom have engaged his work. Mark Knight, The Trophy Twins, Micky Slim, DJ Exacta and ATFC are just a few of the names that he is currently working with. Indeed, Mark Knight describes him as 'One of my favourite of the new school of producers. Birmingham's answer to the Buick Project... consistently excellent in the studio and bad behind the decks... A name that is a permanent feature in my record box..."

As well as the above, Funkagenda is firmly placed in the 24 Management stable, alongside the likes of Nic Fanciulli, Seb Fontaine, Steve Mac & Chris Lake amongst others.

Support on the night will be provided by Nathan Thomson, formerly of Vibe 101 'Weekender' fame, and residents Luke Langson, Alex Clark & Will Bailey, together as always with the jawdropping percussion skills of Anthony.

Not only that, but as a special thanks to the crowds who have supported us during the first few months of Prominence's existence, entry this month will be just £5 b4 12, £6 after, giving you the opportunity to see one of the best in the business for next to nothing!

Funkagenda Bio & Credits

Over the last 18 months, Groovedigital’s in-house engineer has become a name synonymous with quality house music, with both his production and DJ talents becoming a permanent fixture in clubs around the globe.

Starting his career at the age of just 13, helping to program backing tracks for his fathers club act, he quickly got a taste for music and life on the road. He formed his own bands at high school and became a multi instrumentalist, locking himself away in his home 4-Track studio for days at a time.

Then as he hit his late teens, amidst fronting a soft rock band, he was lured into the charms of dance music by the legendary ‘VOODOO RAY’. From this point on it was a love affair, and whilst he continued to learn the more conventional side of music at college, with his A levels etc, he was burning the midnight oil in his home studio crafting Drum + Bass and Techno works…

In the late 90s during the house explosion it was here that he found his home. The hypnotic rhythms of ROGER SANCHEZ, DAVID MORALES and MAW were a perfect fusion of musicality + dance floor sophistication, and institutions such as WOBBLE and the mighty GODSKITCHEN were a Mecca for clubbers across the UK. He began to learn the delicate art of DJing, although after years of manually timing beats on bargain basement samplers, this was not as difficult as he thought and soon he was picking up bar and small club residencies....

But his true love was production and at this point, with the price of a Dub Plate being about £50 it was not cost efficient to play your own material…

Enter the CDJ! Thanks to the wizards at PIONEER, many a bedroom producer now had the ability to play their own works out, and Funkagenda became a regular user. Always re-editing and remixing tracks into his own style, his sets had a unique sound, and began to catch the ears of many promoters around him. Soon gigs were a plenty, and his tracks were the flavour of the moment…

So this brings us to the present and with two very healthy record labels (Groovedigital & Pop Pop) under his belt, Funkagenda’s name is a driving force in house music today...

So we say again… Where have you been hiding?

Check out the credits from some of the biggest names in the game....!

"Funkagenda is an outstanding talent, his sets can go from light and funky to dark and dirty in a seamless way that few Djs can pull off. Maybe its due to the fact that 50% of the records he plays are his own productions, which are without a doubt up there with the best! If asked to quote a name to watch for the future, Funkagenda is the first we think of..."

Trophy Twins

“"Funkagenda is a hot new talent and definitely one to watch for the future. He’s versatile and manages to combine a musical edge with a tuffer club sound that always works on the dancefloor. He’s been embraced by Big Love!”

Seamus Haji.

"I like what Funkagenda is doing. Basically almost everything he does is to me really fresh and great house music the way I always liked it and the way I will always like it....proper stuff..."
