1. Darren you are the new UK's No1 Hardcore DJ as voted by the ravers themselves, how did it feel to win the award ?

Was the strangest night of my life to be honest.. I totally didn’t expect that award. But to be rewarded for doing something you love and voted for by the people who really matter, completely blew me away.

2. You are a permanent fixture on all the top events these days, do you still get nervous before you play ?

Yeh I always get nervous… Not so that im shaking like a leaf, but you know that feeling you get when your stomach flips over when you’re excited? That’s how I feel before I play.

3. How do you see the future of Hardcore for Darren Styles DJ & Production wise ?

This year I’ve felt the most comfortable I’ve ever felt behind the decks… Id be the first to admit that I’m not the most technical DJ out there, but as long as my mixes stay as tight as Breezey’s wallet (and trust me that’s tight) and I keep holding the dance floor, then I’ll be a happy man in 2007.

As for the production side of things, more dance floor slammers…. Obviously!

4. You are a prolific producer & have awards coming out of your ears, what is the secret to your phenomenal producing success ?

I don’t really think there’s a secret to what I do.. I just wanna make music that I love and hope that other people will like it to. It’s like anything in life, to be the best you can be you just have to be incredibly focused and work extremely hard.

5. As a resident DJ for Hard to the Core & Uproar what are you thoughts on these parties ?

I remember my first Uproar a few years back at the Brunel Rooms in swindon and could see there was something special about these parties even then. With constantly strong and changeable lineups which has guaranteed sell out crowds, it’s one of the best parties to play at in the UK.
