BK
Ben Keen, best known to dance fans the world over as BK, is one of the most prolific DJ / producers of the past decade. As in house producer at Nukleuz, he wrote, co-wrote and remixed over 70 releases, single-handedly shaping the sound of hard dance in the mid nineties long before he'd even seriously contemplated DJing. It wasn't long before BK the producer tried his hand at being BK the DJ - after all, there's only so long you can turn down offers to tour Asia, Australia, Africa, America and Europe without becoming curious...
It shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that BK took to DJing overnight, with his unrivalled technical ability, not to mention a proven track record for having an ear for what dancefloors want to hear. However, the rapid rate that BK rose through the DJing took everybody by surprise. Within months of making his debut Ben was headlining major events around the world, plus key festivals such as Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, Creamfields, Global Gathering & Dance Valley.
BK naturally filled the void left by the late, great Tony De Vit as the global ambassador for hard dance. By 2001 he was DJing around 200 dates a year, storming into the DJ Magazine Top 100 poll by entering at #52. His 'Revolution' single was the most successful hard dance single of this era, entering the national charts in the UK and many other territories while capturing the imagination of DJs from right across the dance scene, getting playlist support from names as diverse as Armin van Buuren and Lisa Lashes.
The crossover success of Ben's production sound at this time spurred him on to new challenges. It has also given BK the platform from which to showcase his other sounds, whether it be the tough tech trance sounds of 'Soul Image' championed by Paul van Dyk, or the Tiësto and Sander van Doorn playlist favourite 'Amino'. BK has also collaborated in the studio with Judge Jules, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Christopher Lawrence, Paul Masterson and Nick Sentience in recent times, as well as making his mark on the compilation market with his own Ministry Of Sound 'Euphoria' release together with the new Riot! album.
It's the diverse sounds of BK that ensure he's a truly global force in dance music today. Needless to say that you'll still find BK the focus of every key hard dance event, but his broader sounds have also created a whole new fanbase and opened up many more large scale events around the globe, with BK headlining dance arenas on massive tours such as Two Tribes and Godskitchen in Australia and New Zealand alongside Marco V and M.I.K.E. Push and Winter Wonderland in Canada, closing after Armin van Buuren. Ben Keen has proven himself to be a major driving force behind dance music for nearly a decade, so it's with high expectations that we look forward to what the future holds for BK the DJ and producer.
Rob Tissera
Rob Tissera is one of dance music’s most prolific stars - a top-selling producer and versatile DJ whose technical brilliance and effervescent sets have seen him pack out parties across the globe with his ability to thrill audiences playing any genre from house, trance or hard house something only a handful of DJ can match.
Over the years he’s played every big event; a regular at Slinky, Polysexual, Sundissential, Goodgreef, Frantic, Gatecrasher, Wildchild and the Tidy Weekenders, and as well as big festivals such as Global Gathering, Creamfields, Homelands and Dance Valley. Rob is also a regular in Ibiza, having had residencies at Extreme vs Tidy, Kissdafunk, Lashed, Sundissential and Garlands, and he's been the star of the hallowed BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.
A forward thinking DJ, Rob is constantly embracing new technology in music. A world-class remixer, Rob re-edits the majority of tunes he plays in Ableton Live to give the audience a unique sound, and he often DJs using three decks and two CDJs, overlaying each song with acapellas and effects to add to the Rob Tissera DJ experience.
In 2004 Rob also launched his own house night KissDaFunk in Leeds, and its here where he delights audiences playing uplifiting house alongside the likes of David Guetta and Lee Cabrera to a packed out clubs. Such has been the success of KissDaFunk that it's since been taken on the road with sell-out tour dates across the UK, Space in Ibiza, as well as releasing a KissDaFunk mix album.
Apart from being a skilled DJ Rob is a world-class and top-selling music producer. In 1998 ‘The Day Will Come’ produced under his pseudonym Quake with Ian Bland shot to number 30 in the UK Chart and featured on just about every big compilation CD that year. This in turn led to high profile remix work, with Rob asked to work on high profile releases by the likes of Blank and Jones, Judge Jules, ATB, Anne Savage and Armin van Buuren. More recently Rob has been finding success with his solo work once again, including the Top 40 hit 'Stay', 'Feel the Drums' on Tidy, 'Beautiful (Like You)' and new remixes of his chart topper 'The Day Will Come' taking club land by storm throughout 2005.
As well as producing tracks Rob's consistency and musical flair make him a frequent star of high profile compilation CDs, most recently Hard Dance Anthems and Goodgreef 2 in 2004, and then Hard Dance Republic and Tidy Weekender Live CDs in 2005.
Elsewhere in 2006, Rob graced the decks of just about every leading festival, including Global Gathering, Creamfields, South West Four and Dance Valley, and he's rock dancefloors in Ibiza, Ireland, Holland and the USA, with further international dates lined up in Canada, Australia and New Zealand in the months ahead.
