Ravers Are: Bonkers - Wise Up... Get Stupid! - EVENT 4 - 20th Nov 2009
RAVERS ARE: BONKERS
Freeformation, Wise Up – Get Stupid!

Friday 20th November 2009 - Lakota, Bristol – 8pm – 6am

“A non-stop super rave ride of mentalist proportions…” Core Magazine

On Friday the 20th November, the South West’s hottest new event brand Ravers Are: returns to Bristol’s favourite underground rave venue Lakota for their biggest party on record since the brands creation just over a year ago. Combining forces with UK hardcore’s original and ultimate album compilation series and running in conjunction with London’s craziest underground event brand Freeformation; Ravers Are: Bonkers marks the next exciting instalment in the series of eagerly awaited multi-genre underground dance events, that this time features Hixxy, Sharkey, Dougal, Marc Smith, Kevin Energy and several more!

In the space of just four events, Ravers Are: has achieved notoriety through its dedication to delivering a visceral underground rave event. Cultivating all that is brilliant about rave culture as it is today, promoters Ben Welch and Kevin Thomas aka DJ’s Ben Niacin and DJ Pikey have worked tirelessly to realise an ambition that features a heavily stocked line-up of some of underground dance music’s finest DJ’s, performers and live acts. For the fourth event, the wayward promoters have enlisted the help of the team behind possibly the greatest hardcore album series of all time, Bonkers.

Breaking boundaries since it’s inception in 1995, Bonkers was initially the brainchild of Hixxy and Sharkey back on the React label famed not only for it’s originality and creativity, but also for the art of cartoonist Paul Garner who took all of hardcore’s heroes and made comic book caricature’s of them as a cover concept for each album. The compilation went on to sell 80, 000 units and international fame ensued, with many DJ’s and producers gracing its track list and tours for years to follow. Now part of the All Around The World and Universal Music group of companies, Bonkers was re-mixed and re-launched in 2008 with its original hosts Hixxy, Sharkey and special guest Chris Unknown. Ravers Are: as a brand are pleased to announce that both Hixxy and Sharkey will be taking pride of place on the headline, as will Chris Unknown and many of the contributors to the series over its fourteen year run.

In the main arena – the World’s number one hardcore DJ Gammer, Notorious Vinyl’s creator Marc Smith (also recently appointed Ravers Are: resident), Essential Platinum and rave scene pioneer Dougal, scratch master and Quosh Records head honcho DJ Sy, HTID: The Album and All Around The World regular Recon, NEC’s director of operations Kevin Energy, Ravers Are: resident and Lethal Theory legend Joey Riot, Lethal Theory co-owner Kurt and Hardcore Underground compilers Fracus & Darwin. In addition to this, the crew are joined by Broken Records and Pure Hardcore’s Stylus & AudioJunkie, another Ravers Are: resident and breakthrough to main stage smash Bishop, Muffin Music regular JB-C and promoters and residents of Ravers Are – DJ Pikey and Ben Niacin (also marking Ben’s main room debut).

Additionally, a titanic selection of MC’s are in session including Sharkey himself, as well as the World’s number one hardcore MC - Whizzkid and Ravers Are: resident and ‘Best MC’ award nominee, Hardcore Evolution promoter and host of Krafty Radio’s busiest show to date – MC Wotsee.

The team will also be accompanied by one of rave land’s most distinguished talents, the MC Odyssey, Fusion, HTID and Candyball USA resident MC Casper; another recently confirmed resident, Raverbaby signed act and winner of ‘Best Breakthrough MC’ at the 2008 Hardcore Heaven Awards, MC Enemy, Ravers Are: resident, Notorious Vinyl regular and the designer of all of Ravers Are: artwork MC Obie and the lyrical greatness of breakthrough MC’s Macca and Age-O.

As with all Ravers Are: events, the November party will feature a multitude of arenas or ‘zones’ that provide a cross section of underground dance music that will appeal to all lovers of the genre. In Zone Two – hard dance, hardstyle, hard trance, freeform and hardcore all take pride of place as the ultimate mash-up continues with Freeformation Underground inviting you to ‘wise up’ and get stupid’ with Sharkey, new Ravers Are: residents and Notorious White creators Force 9 (aka Marc Smith & Jay M), a live PA from Bonkers album star Arkitech, techno purveyor Scorpio in a versus battle with Joey Riot, a slightly different offering from Darwin and also featuring sets from Lost Soul, Big Worm, DHP and Notes. MC duties for this arena will be amicably handled by Sharkey, Ribbz, Squidgy B, Odyssey, Obie and Trigger.

Zone Three presents an extreme approach to the hard dance and hardstyle genre sections. Combining Southern brands Contact, Influence and Reaction – the room features the peak time talents and technical ability of a hard dance set from Kurt, Contact promoter and Hands On Records creator Matt Handy, Resonate and Ravers Are: resident Iain Cross, Overload & Contact residents Nathan D & Lanslide, +12 promoter Lil Bri and further appearances from Contact, Influence and Reaction regulars and residents Teflon John, Andy Stringer, Marcio, Mennace & Renz and Boyzee & Stevie J. MC’s to host include Si The Sigh, Age-O, Outbreak, N.R.G and Salter.

The fourth and final zone, although by no means to be least promoted is presented by one of the South West’s much loved promoters Hardcore Distortion. Combining the sounds of new school, old skool, breakthrough and upfront UK hardcore – Hardcore Distortion’s room will see sets from promoter Outburst and guests and residents Raiden, Buzzy, Fallon, Unleashed, Jaba, Flymo, Naughty & Intox, Haggett, Ferrisoi, Mad Max, Benz, Jon Boi and Rebound. MC’s representing Hardcore Distortion on this night will be Deverstate, Curzon, Venom, Danny J, Mitch, Goughy, Adger, Peaty and Kenny D.

The team behind Ravers Are: are also calling on ravers to arrive early as they provide a multitude of FREE giveaways to include Bonkers album CD’s, whistles and horns for those that arrive between 20:00 and 22:00pm. It is their goal to try to provide the loudest rave event ever to be held in Bristol, so why not join them early and help them achieve just that!

Building upon its reputation for providing all out, no holds barred entertainment in an environment just built for the raving masses; the event will also feature a full light show, vibrant décor, the very best sound, bars, stalls and outdoor smoking facilities.

Tickets for this event will be available at a very special early bird price for a limited time only. Starting at just £14 for those that buy now, the offer lasts until the end of August, and then tickets are available at £16 until the end of September, £18 until the 20th November and then finally, £20 on the door on the night. Tickets are available from HERE ON DONTSTAYIN, THE TICKET SELLERS & WWW.RAVERSARE.CO.UK. Tickets will also be available from all the usual outlets inclusive of booking fee and further details as well as Coach Service information can be found at raversare.co.uk

Prepare for a ten hour session jam packed with the very best DJ’s, artists and performers in a setting that provides an unbeatable atmosphere, set to a soundtrack provided by the World’s most respected underground artists at the South West’s most anticipated rave event currently in the scene today.

Ravers Are: proudly presents an official Bonkers album and Freeformation Underground tour event brought to you by the South West's No.1 up 'n' coming dance music promotion...

I can only echo what other Ben has said (WTF? Too many Bens...)

Experimental was immense, and Bonkers is going to be off the scale, if you don't go you're going to miss out on something special.

Pure quality in every sense.
