Scream Re-union
It’s been 4 years long since Scream hosted its last party, and many of the bright young things entering the clubbing arena nowadays have never even heard of it. But once upon a time, Scream ruled the Bristol club scene. The brainchild of Dan Prince (of Mixmag and DMC fame) and Louis Gee, Scream quickly took over Bristol and became the first superclub in the South West since the heady days of Lakota
Up to 2000 people made a weekly pilgrimage to Rock (now the Bristol Academy) to witness legendary DJs such as Pete Tong, Seb Fontaine, Erick Morillo and Roger Sanchez to name but a few, as well as being shown live on MTV. But, although Scream always attracted the biggest names in the DJ universe, the night always belonged to the residents, and the crowd would wait patiently until Dan Pearce and The Saint took to the stage.
Greg aka The Saint and Dan Pearce have decided to bring the mayhem back for one night only following constant requests from the old Scream regulars.
“Everywhere I go, people are always asking about Scream and the sets we used to play,” says Greg “I approached Dan with the idea of doing a party, with the original Scream residents, playing all the big records from that time; luckily he had been thinking the same thing!”
“So many people still remember those events and think of them as the best nights of their lives…how could we not do another party?”
Dan Pearce and The Saint will be playing a 3 hour set purely of tunes from the original Scream days and will be joined by some of their close DJ friends and Bristol legends in their own right – Safehouse’s Phil Bishop and Glyn Ridout and Ripsnorter head honcho DJ Pod.
The Scream back room, always had a following of its own; week in, week out, people would go to Scream, go straight upstairs and not even venture out into the main room! To complete the nostalgia, the second room will be hosted by the Scream back room residents Amos Nelson and Jambo. They will be joined on the decks by Gus Young, playing all the house and club classics that made the upstairs bar what it was.
Scream the reunion…expect to see lots of old faces, lots of new faces and hear all the classic Scream tunes in their finery.
Scream the Reunion is being held at Motion, Bristol on Friday 14 November 2008. Doors are open 10pm – 4.30am.
