Mad Decent vs. Bugged Out!
Transatlantic techno titans serve up super-sized bank holiday blow out
Big macs, big asses, and even bigger beats – nobody does super size like the USA. So unbuckle your belts, lick your lips and prepare to tuck in to the mightiest musical-feast you’ve ever experienced, as the UK’s infamous mutant techno extravaganza BuggedOut! goes large with legendary US imprint Mad Decent.
International party phenomenon BuggedOut! has exploded onto Bristol’s underground club circuit this year, with sell-out events showcasing the likes of Mylo and JoJo de Freq.
Joining forces with Bristol club revelation The Blast, and the UK’s biggest mid-week party Groove On, the event returns to Motion Skate Park this Friday May 22nd to serve up a party menu that’ll satisfy even the greediest techno-glutton.
The main course on the night comes from Mad Decent founder, fashionista and Mixmag-favoured man-of-the-moment Diplo. The man at the epicentre of last year’s mash-up explosion, Diplo’s genre-defying sets, which fuse together everything from house, hip-hop, electro, dubstep and South American favella beats, have revolutionised dance music, and are at the heart of what’s hot in 2009.
Served up alongside him will be and exclusive DJ set from nu rave reprobrates and electro-rawkstars Late Of The Pier. The undisputed indie-dance darlings of 2008, their album 'Fantasy Black Channel' dominating the mash-ups and mosh-pits alike, this year has seen the London quartet go stratospheric. They'll be joining us fresh from a sell-out US tour, before hitting the festival circuit for the summer. Washed down with an exclusive set from dubstep pioneer Rusko, as well as an appearance from electro-hipster Boy 8-bit, the main room is set to explode.
As if that wasn’t enough, French electro legend Ivan Smagghe serves up second-helpings in The Tunnel. After over a decade dining, djing and producing at dance music’s top table, the electro-tech connoisseur behind Blackstrobe remains one of the most electrifying DJ’s on the international club circuit. His mixes for Fabric and Kill The DJ rank among the most exciting electronic-collections around, and with his sets destroying dancefloors across the continent this year, his appearance is not to be missed.
Joining him in the tunnel is BUGGEDout! resident, MYTHIC head honcho and disco-siren JoJo De Freq - whose electro-tech sound has been championed by the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Diplo, The Proxy, Tiga and Mr Oizo and tore up Dojo lounge this January - plus Groove On and Just Jack resident Tom Rio and Cardiff's underground club sensations, the CYNT DJs.
The Cave welcomes the Crazy Legs crew, currently rinsing some of the most-exciting bass-heavy beats across Bristol. They welcome rising star Raffertie, as well as dubstep heavyweights Smutlee and Komonasmuk.
Finally, keeping it sweet, dessert comes on the terrace in the shape of Bristol's resident disco lothario El Harvo, whose acid laced disco love action is guaranteed to strike a groove through your heart. While Groove On and BUMP resident, one man DJ Mountain Sam Wicks will inject a smidgen of tech.
