Pole Play and Poletastic have teamed up to launch Pole Divas, the UK’s first official National Pole Fitness Competition! The search is on to find the ultimate pole dancing champion who best embodies the spirit of pole dance, with the launch today of the Pole Divas 2007 competition. The competition, a key part of increasing the profile of pole fitness in the UK, identifies areas of excellence in strength, flexibility and performance in those people that have a real flair for the art of pole dancing and performance. Seven regional winners will be selected in heats held around the UK between April 1st and May 20th. On Sunday 30th June a panel of judges will select an overall UK winner from the regional finalists at the Grand Final to be held in Pure Manchester. Pole dancing has become more acceptable in the public eye over the past few years. It has been taken to another level promoting fitness alongside entertainment to create an elegant dance form that people of all ages can enjoy. It is only by continuing to promote pole dancing as fitness that we can change the negative attitude much of society still has towards the dance form. The Pole Divas competition is a great way of shining a spotlight on the best talent around the country to make people see that pole dancing is a dance form that should be placed alongside Salsa, Tango and all the other great dances already accepted by the public. “The Pole Divas competition is a great opportunity to celebrate some of the talent that has been created over the years and not only change the public’s opinions of pole dancing, but also get more people involved so they know that fitness can be fun as well as good for their health. Hopefully this will inspire many more people to take the plunge and find out what the fascination is!” - Josephine, Pole Play What makes the Pole Divas Competition special? Pole Divas was founded in 2006 to help set a high standard for pole dance competitions based more around the health and fitness industry in an effort to “clean up” its image. The Partnership is made between Pole Play and Poletastic, two pole fitness schools based in the UK and who share an interest in raising the benchmark for pole dancers the world over. The Web Marketing Association is the producer of the WebAward Competition. Now in its 2nd year, Pole Divas hopes to initiate a national pole fitness competition to recognise the highest achievers while setting the standard of excellence for all pole dancers. But more than just a competition that raises interest in pole dancing within the public, Pole Divas provides a platform through which the individual pole schools involved can raise their profile in the local area. A Different pole school is responsible for the running of each Regional heat which not only encourages students to take part but also means that the effort put in by each of theses school is recognised nationwide. Whether you enter to help impress your instructor, impress your friends, justify attending your pole classes, raise the profile of your own school or receive valuable feedback regarding the level of your own performance it is extremely easy to enter. When you enter the Pole Divas Competition, you also will experience how exciting it can be to win the recognition you deserve! Tickets: In Advance £3.50 (£3 NUS) On the Door £5 (4 NUS) Available from Panache or contact competition@pole-play.co.uk or 07900 483155 For more information, please visit www.poledivascompetition.com
