Above & Beyond all expectations!!!!
Morning all...well just (it wont be by the time I finish)..I hope you are not all too smashed after what happened last night...for those of you that happened to miss it..WHERE WERE YOU!!!

This had to be one of my favourite nights out ever! I dont say things like that lightly so when I say it was incredible I MEAN it was...

Dan Masey

After a little delay in being allowed through the doors, and being one of the first (if not the first) person in it was pretty empty :P (well duh)....Dan delivered his usual effective style of house, a little deep at the beginning, progressively increasing the tempo to a more upbeat lively sound. At this point of the night you arnt going to get alot of very commercial tracks from Dan he is very much a DJ playing more underground tracks, and for me it was great to hear that sort of style. He is very calm and composed nothing seems to faze him, I would like to see him when he is playing to a larger crowd to see how he would interact with the audience...Good stuff from Dan. by the time he had finished there was a sizable amount of clubbers on the dancefloor ready for Joel D to take it on to the next level.

Joel D

Joel has impressed me alot in previous gigs, his energy, the tracks he plays are a real pleasure to hear, its a shame he took it up a few notches straight after Dan rather than build it up a little more smoothly, however I think most didnt really notice and it did seem to work. The dancefloor started to fill up alot more, I think because of Joel's uplifting but also harder basslines acted like an injection of 'something' to whip up the crowd who were getting very excited about Above & Beyond later. Great track selection as always, works the mixer well, excellent performance, job done.

Rui J b2b Kiki-V

These two suprised me the most last night, I wasnt sure how Kiki-V was going to perfom considering as she is very new to the scene and it being her very first 'big' gig. Kiki-V did not disappoint, a very solid performance, she looked as if she had been doing it for years. The track selection was very 'safe' however it was a great time to play the classics as the crowd had been lifted very high from the help of Dan and Joel. A peach of a track to start with Alex Morph vs Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary followed by Tiesto - Lethal Industry (Richard Durand Rmx) and Just Be . Well you can imagine how everyone was after those!!! But it didnt stop there once Rui J stepped up he kept that intense uplifting sound with more classics with my personal favourite AVB - Shivvers I went CRAZY!! it was the perfect set to get everyone to the exact point where everyone goes mental when Above and Beyond came on! It would be interesting to see what sort of set they would create if they wernt playing classics...I look forward to seeing them again. Very Well done Kiki-V and Rui J :).

Above and Beyond

OMG!!! these guys are on par with Armin by playing the most engerising, uplifting trance music around they have become my joint favourite acts alongside Armin..dont just believe me, you should have seen the reaction they got once they started playing. Its crazy to think that only a few years ago they were hardly known at all but they certainly have made a huge impact and if they continue like they did last night (and I hear they are rocking everywhere they go) that Armin should watch out for the top spot this year. They were imense, it was the first time Id seen a whole set of theirs and my god I was blown away. There interaction with the Crowd and the tracks they played made me and everyone else burst with excitement and sheer Euphoria. Im not going to mention all the great tracks in their set because they were all so good, however 'Alone Tonight' got one of the best reactions to a track I have every seen from a DJ's own production at the Syndicate. I was so looking forward to seeing them, and they went ABOVE & BEYOND ALL EXPECTATIONS!!!

Julian Williams

I think we have another promising young DJ coming through ranks with Julian, as far as I see he already has another slot within the next few months and from what I heard (because unfortunatley I didnt hear his whole set) it was very promising stuff. Solid mixing, kept the tempo up from where Above & Beyond left off and im sure kept everyone very happy.. Hopefully when I next see Julian I will be around for longer so I can do a longer review...but good stuff Julian.

So..what you got from this night was the best uplifting trance around with a crowd that lapped it all up and responded in true superclub style worthy of the 4 pro spotters that were busy taking an insane amount of pictures...I cant wait to see how it will look! :) Great to meet you guys (and girls)...When are Above and Beyond coming back?

4 or 5 years ago they were in the top 50 DJs in the world. So I'm not sure where you got that idea from.

I think they went to do an encore, so management turned off the system :)

Ahhhh gutted.....never good when that happens!! Don't think its the Management's fault though to be honest....

The old bill get well on their case if they stay open longer than advertised....could lead to them losing the licence
