Gatecrasher presents Ferry Corsten @ The Syndicate (Bristol) in Bristol (UK)
Sun 12 Apr
Before I go into the review I would first like to point out how very impressed I was with the efficiency of the door staff at the Syndicate especially in the ticket line. What would have been considered peak time My girlfriend and I were only in the queue and into the club within a few minutes. That have been good before however this was even better!
After arriving at around 11:30 I was pleased to find the club was very full which gave a great atmosphere helped by the current DJ's on the decks Rui J b2b Kiki V I was quite suprised by the tempo of Joel D b2b Ben Nicky . Joel is normally uplifting and Ben driving tech trance however their set was very progressive. From hearing the tail end of Rui J and Kiki V who had brought the level up while Joel and Ben almost calming the crowd in preparation for a 2 hour hammering by Ferry. Though I was suprised by their difference in style, I am a progressive fan so it all worked well for me.
Myself, my gf and a few friends i was with were very fortunate to get some very special wrist bands which prooved to be an amazing piece of luck (as well as help from one of the managers...If I am allowed to say let me know coz this guy is a legend!). If It wasnt for him, we would not have been able to go up into the VIP area, and have a few drinks with Ferry before he went on! It really did change the whole night. Ferry was so calm and patient, you really felt like you were talking with a friend. A top guy, Ive met him a number of times now and he is always the same..I recommend that you try and get to meet him!
As to Ferry's set - I was hoping he would play 'Made of Love', 'Radio Crash' and 'Brainbox', not only did we get that but also Gouryella - 'Gouryella', System F - Out of the Blue (Orchestral remix - dont know the exact name) and some top class trance. I have read in one of the posts which says that 'Ferry was a let down'. I dont know what you were expecting (something from the L.E.F Album - more electro?) but if you are keeping upto date with what Ferry is doing at the moment, you will know that he has moved away from the styles from L.E.F as that was experimental after doing so many years of full on trance. He has an aray of musical syles and tech trance was a good style to have at that time of night. If you are a regular to the Syndicate you would know that tech trance is played around that time (as far as Im aware). The likes of 'Radio Crash' and 'Made of Love' were definatley my favourites of the night.
I would like to apologise to Dean Angel as I spoke with him when I first arrived and said that I might pop in to see him and take some pics...If your reading this I hope you understand...and know why I didnt go into the 2nd room!
Really looking forward to Above and Beyond and JOC (DO NOT MISS THIS!!!) on May 3rd but before that ASOT 400 on Friday..see you guys there!
Mike
