This article is about PROMINENCE 1st BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION with very special guest MICHAEL GRAY (FULL INTENTION - 'ANALOG IS ON' ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY) plus residents LUKE LANGSON, WILL BAILEY & ALEX CLARK - SAT 30th JUNE 2007 @ The Warehouse in Bristol (UK), Sat 30 Jun 2007
On Saturday the 30th June 2007, Prominence reaches the grand old age of '1', and what a year it has been!!!!!
In the past 12 months, we've delivered on all the promises we made at the start...
We've fulfilled out promise to bring you some of the World's finest production artists & DJ's, many of which would have never been to Bristol before....
We've delivered on our promise to offer you a genuine monthly alternative to the monotony that had become the standard Saturday evening in the city....
But most of all, we've fulfilled out promise to provide you with a night based around the absolute quality of the two most important things... the music... and the atmosphere!
In the last 12 months, we've seen the likes of Ian Carey, Tocadisco, Paul Jackson, Funkagenda, Dave Spoon & Ben Macklin all coming to Bristol for the very first time. We've witnessed the rise of a new credible house venue in The Warehouse, offering us all the chance to head somewhere different for a change, at least once month. Best of all though, we've created a night that isn't governed by what magazines & records labels say is cool; a night where it's all aimed at being as much fun as possible; a night where we make sure you go away knowing you've had a good time!
The last few events have shown that within this last year, Prominence has grown to become one of the best nights in the city, regularly full of happy, clued-up, friendly clubbers all just looking to have as much fun as they possibly can....
Long may it continue!!!!!
To celebrate our first anniversary, we've lined up a true house legend, and one of the UK's greatest, most consistent & influential house producers of the last 15 years to make his first appearance in the city...
MICHAEL GRAY (Full Intention/Eye Industries).
Whether it has been as a solo artist, or together with friend Jon Pearn (Bodyrox) as part of the hugely successful production & remix duo FULL INTENTION... or indeed as any one of the many other guises they work under including Miami Ice, Sex-O-Sonique & Essence to name just a few... Michael's work has always received global acclaim & recognition from the world's biggest artists, including the likes of David Morales, Pete Tong & Joey Negro.
In the very early years, it was huge productions such as '(I Love) America' on Stress, and "I Thought It Was You" (under the Sex-O-Sonique alias) on FFRR that brought Full Intention to the attention of the world's biggest musical figures...
Their reputation as a top-class production & remix duo was enhanced even further following the outstanding remixes of Da Mob's "It's All Good" and Duke's "So In Love With You", both of which went on to not only achieve chart success, but also become true house classics...
Over the forthcoming years, Michael Gray & Jon Pearn gradually made their way to the top of the house music artist pile with an endless string of huge hit releases under various monikas... things like Hustlers Convention "Uptown Downtown", Awa Band "Timba", Dina Vass "The Love I Have For You" and Ronaldo's Revenge "Mas Que Mancada'...
... in addition, the consistently produced mammoth remixes for some of the house & music industries biggest stars... people like Whitney Houston, Jamiroquai, Master At Work, Ultra Nate & George Michael all received chart success as a result of Michael & Jon's reworking of their tracks...
... Indeed, it was their remix of George Michael's "Amazing" in 2004 that earned the pair a prestigious Grammy nomination; an only too well deserved recognition of the outstanding work they had been creating for more than a decade.
It was shortly after this that the pair decided to spend some time working on other projects...
Jon went on to collaborate with a young artist called Nick Bridges... an as many will know, the two achieved huge success earlier this year with the release of their "Yeah Yeah" track as Bodyrox... Michael meanwhile concentrated on a solo career, using material he had collated over the many years spent in the Studio working on new ideas....
... the result....?
In 2004, Michael's first solo release "The Weekend" instantly became an underground club hit, before crossing over to become a worldwide chart phonomenon, hitting dance & download chart no.1 spots in numerous countries, as well as many national chart top 10's, including that of the UK.
Michael followed this up in early 2006 with the release of "Borderline", which again received cross-over success following massive support from influential radio figures such as Pete Tong, Sara Cox & Steve Smart...
Michael solo success has seen the astronomical growth of his own label 'Eye Industries', and a string of solid releases has served to place the label amongst the Uk's elite.
With the pending release of beautiful new single 'Somewhere Beyond', a track already destined for club & chart success having been championed by the same influential figures as before and more, Michael's already huge profile looks set to continue its growth in the coming months...
The forthcoming release of his new album 'Analog Is On', consisting of all his above works and many other pieces such as the much talked about 'Astroid', is hugely anticipated... and we feel privileged to get the chance to hear many of those tracks for the first time at Prominence on June 30th as Michael joins us to celebrate of 1st Birthday at The Warehouse.
Joining Michael for this very special night will be Prominence residents Will Bailey, Alex Clark & Luke Langson, all of whom are considered amongst some of the best residents in the city and beyond.
Will Bailey is himself making huge strides in the world of production, with 3 recent signings to the Toolroom stable, and many releases on his own Simma label hitting the no.1 spots of countless download charts... it's fair to say that Will is about the hottest new talent in the electro-house world at this moment!!!!
The night will be preceeded by ultimate pre-party, THE FUNK BOAT... 100 guests will sail throughout the waterways of Bristol, listening to a pecial soundtrack laid down by the Funk Boat & Prominence residents.
