Luckas

Luke Turner a.k.a LUKAS is a Bristol based Producer, DJ and promoter.

Growing up surrounded by music is something you hear a lot. In this case, it’s especially true. Growing up wild in the country in Cornwall, the son of a Jazz guitarist and record collector, Luke’s youth was surrounded by records - listening to Jazz and Blues greats, his tastes grew and he begun to collect himself : hip hop and old funk at first. He played the drums from an early age, joining his father for an onstage when he was allowed.

In 2001, Luke settled in Bristol, and soon started promoting monthly parties under th Buoyancy banner with close friends Frankie Mann and Justin Gettings. From the start these crazy, forward thinking parties had great character, and brought many (then mainly unknown) underground artists in their ascendance to Bristol for the first time – Ame, Style of Eye, and Switch just to name a few. Over the last five years, armed with a good sound system, and some attention to detail, Buoyancy have invigorated the free party scene in Bristol with some now legendary events on boats, under railway bridges, and in forests.

Alongside promoting parties and djing, Luke started to make music of his own. Inspired by djing at the great parties happening around him, the techno coming from the continent, and slowly honing his production skills, his tracks have begun to make waves – releasing on labels like Berlin’s Dirt Crew and Player’s Paradise. Lukas’ fresh blend of house and techno has received praise and plays from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Sasse (mood music) David Duriez and more.

JT

Bleeep! headhoncho JT is a purveyor of all things techno. With 10 years DJ'ing experience under his belt he has been smashing dancefloors with his super tight selection of tech house bangers and wonky minimal grooves, which has seen him play for nights such as Zoo, Play and Freejive. JT has played alongside DJs such as Fergie, Funk D'void and the mighty Radioslave and even wlecomed Mobilee's minimal master Ralf Kollmann to his own Bleeep! night. Expect BIG things from JT

Matt Kennedy

Music has always been a major part of Matt's life, and his passion for DJing started when he was a kid. His parents often took Matt to gigs, introducing him to a really diverse range of new music, and encouraging him to play a variety of instruments – sometimes with disastrous results. But when at 17 Matt bought his first set of decks and took to them instantly and he's never looked back.

Moving to Bristol from Birmingham for university, Matt rapidly realized he was learning more out of the classroom than in it – namely by attending the host of brilliant nights and clubs that Bristol had to offer (rather than his lectures) – and completely immersed himself in this thriving scene.

Four years later, Matt's resident at three nights in the city - Secret Sanchez, The Zoo and Freejive – He has also been fortunate enough to play alongside the likes of Anthony Collins, Mike Monday, Burnski, Rob Mello, Sebo K, Riton, Will Saul, Claude Von Stroke and Kenny Hawkes.

Matt's style is eclectic, taking in everything from chuggy deep house and techno to disco. he believes it’s fundamentally important as a DJ to listen to a really diverse range of music, keeping it fresh and original. More than anything his sound is defined by this willingness to experiment, playing music that keeps the floor dancing and the crowd interested, whatever the genre.

Al Dare

Al Dare is a DJ that knows no fear when it comes to pushing the boundaries of music. He doesn’t let genres restrict him. He doesn’t let styles bind him. He simply plays good music, no matter the tempo, no matter the origin – and unlike a lot of self-proclaimed “eclectic” DJs, he’s not here to give you a boring lesson in the most obscure music around. He’s here to make you dance.

With a wealth of experience under his belt from past promotions in some of Bristol’s most pivotal nights in recent memory, to his current standing as co-promoter with Byte and residencies at events like Socialism, through to a string of DJ sets around the country, Al is a DJ who should definitely never be underestimated – and when you’re on the dancefloor going mental to one of his sets, you’ll understand why.

Jake Davis

Having started as a DJ at the tender age of 16 and holding residencies at three of Bristol's most influential Club Nights (Kandi Klub / Spank! / Safehouse), Jake is no stranger to clubland. Currently resident at the hugely popular Summer Summons, playing a predominantly electro sound with a few classics and curve ball tracks in for good measure.
