Another year... another series... another set of dynamic parties... another range of the world's finest dj's, artists and producers all winging their way to Bristol for one of the city's most popular house nights...
On Saturday 9th February, Bristol's favourite underground venue Timbuk2 plays host to the launch of the Electroquisite 2008 'Decadent Series'...
Not wishing to rest on the laurels of what was an outstanding year of memeroable events throughout the 2007 'Neon Series', we return for 2008 with another 10 events between February and November featuring a crop of industry leaders and the artists making all the waves in the world of underground house music...
After a quite remarkable event in January that saw the club so full by half past midnight that the doorstaff literally had to close the doors to the lengthy queue that remained outside, Electroquisite aims to produce much more of the same as we introduce our first guest of the 2008 'Decadent Series'...
ANDY CHATTERLEY (Skylark, Buick Project, Edison, Saved Records)
2007... Wow!!! What a year for Andy Chatterley... a Grammy award nomination... 2 completed albums under different monikers... Collaboration with Kanye West on his multi award winning album 'Graduation'... A host of remixes for numerous well known bands & artists... and he even found the time to get himself hitched!! Not bad for 12 months, wouldn't you say?!?!
But for those who think they might not know too much about this highy accomplished musician & producer, we'd say there's a fair chance that you actually probably do...
Going under various guises, Andy Chatterley is one of the most proficient artists in the house music industry today. Co-owner of much respected label 'Saved
Records' (home of artists such as Paulo Mojo, Jim Rivers, James talk & more) alongside friend and colleague Nic fanciulli, the pair together also make up the internationally acclaimed electronic music bands 'Skylark' and 'The Buick Project'...
Under the guise of these bands, Andy & Nic have been responsible for a host of ground breaking productions, remixes & re-edits that have gained international recognition from the entire spectrum of house Dj's... Releases that have included the hugely successful "At The Rave" and the underground behemoth "That's More Like it"... Remixes such as Soul Mekanik's "Wanna get Wet", A-Studio's cult classic "S.O.S" and Tiefschwarz featuring Tracey Thorn's "Damage", the latter of which earned the pair no less than a Grammy Award nomination for best remix of 2007... a quite incredible achievement!
Individually, Andy has recently been concentrating on yet another moniker of his... Edison. 2007 turned out to be a big year for Edison, with the completion of the first album as well as support for productions such as "Press Release" and remixes such as that of Nerina Pallot's "Peg" from literally the biggest names in the industry... indeed, it's fair to say that the "Peg" remix almost took the roof off the radio 1 tent at Global Gathering when dropped by main man Pete Tong at the peak of his set.
.. and if that wasn't enough, the highly acclaimed prodcuer & songwriter, together with fellow artist Richard Norris, even has room to form the highly regarded electro band 'The Droyds'...
So, as we say, it's likely that you actually know more about Andy Chatterley than you think... and with the recent release of the highly anticipated debut Skylark album 'I-Panik' already serving to boost his ever growing reputation as one of the most reputable artists in the business, it's clear to see that it's a reputation that looks set to continue growing throughout 2008.
Joining Andy in Room 1 will be Electroquisite residents Luke Langson & Clinton Brown, the latter of whom has himself recently experienced production success with his debut release alongside Adam Shaw "Screamo". Shortly to receive it's full digital release complete with remix from former EQ guest Dave Robertson, the track has already gained reviews from some of the biggest names in the business including Rene Amesz, who himself has created a cheeky re-edit, and Micky Slim who recently included the Robertson remix in his top 3 tracks of 2007!
Room 2 sees Nathan Thomson putting in his first performance of 2008 alongside Chris Kiddy & DJ David Lee of midland based outfit Funkfilment, who all join EQ's Alex Clark providing some variation to the main room and making sure there's something for everyone's preference.
We have no doubt that this party is set to be off the meter... The events have become just better & better each month during the last 18 months, a trend that we see continuing all the way through the coming year, especially with the quality of the guests set to visit EQ during that time!!! Don't miss the start of something special people...
