Emperor Haggis

Where do we start really, the world is our oyster, and we like oysters so the world is putty in our hands and we love cliches! Oh dear lets start again!! The year was 2003 long before the oyster world we know now. Two bums known as Michael & Matthew as fate would have it met at the oh so exciting Millers Cafe, BRISTOL (Now a run down joint known as HERMANOS, we haven’t forgotten) sharing a love of making okay coffee and general messing around, they thought they were wasting there average abilities in the cafe and decided to venture into the world of disc jockeying. This is the moment which the Bristol general public wish had never happened: for the start of the okay deejays was born, well nearly. Initially, their cosmic soundclash of the warriors was met with sick and the plap was invented which is the opposite of a clap but undeterred the warriors overcame these setbacks with a new direction. Spaceward bound they set off on an inspired journey which has become known as Bottlerocket. Now, you maybe asking yourself what is this idiotic baboonlike idea, well the same question was asked at the time, where would this take us, or more precisely who would take us. Noone. Back to the drawing board or so we thought. After numerous turn downs by Bristol Academy, Mr Wolfs, and this list goes on, they battled through the lowest point of their lives until in an act of mercy a light shone from a pub door. Could this be our cockpit of love? It was. Woo!

After three weeks of talks (well begging) Bottlerocket was launched and these neglected children of music had found a home in The Cadbury House, MONTPELI YEAH! Now we had to decide what Bottlerocket actually was. Inspired by Blue Peter and booze a night of beat breaking and rocket making, yes yes rub your ears for a genie has arisen and made our wish come true. That's right a rocket making club night was born, all free, equipment provided, bad prizes won and The Okay Deejays spinning intergalactic beats to move your feets, whilst they compere with a passion only seen before as Dennis Norden has for calamity t.v programs. Wow that's hot like soup! There were no false starts as were expected, the rocketeers pillaged the equipment bay like mad horses infront of the wall to wall backdrop of stars, rockets were soon made with ingenious design, and hung like the art they were, rumours flew around Bristol of scouting missions from NASA, and much to our own we were allowed back.

6th months at the Cadbury and they could no longer take the mess our rocketeers made and the elite fleet had grown too big for the control centre Cadbury. So a new planet was needed. That planet was Austria just passed planet Germany, a planet famous for sausages. Austria provided a perfect breeding ground for our swatty team joining forces with the Snowbombing Festival in MAYRHOFEN. Their transportation for this trip was not quite up to the dreams of this ambitious crew; the 24 hour journey there can be only described as sick and on arrival we soon became the first emergancy of Austria's 8 year history. Donning our shellsuits a new found confidence grew within and with Bottlerocket makers from around the world buzzing like an electric hive the greatest moment of The Okay Deejays bizarre journey was about to explode in a cosmic meltdown of tears and emotion. The crowning of the European Champion was interrupted only by the evil alien Smackhead who tore down the intergalactic forcefield and half the fleet was wiped out leaving Sir Jackson the commander of the fleet somehow disheartened with the whole thing consequently returning to his job as janitor.

Unperturbed the one thing Smackhead could not bear was an hour of soft rock which along with the withering crowd turned what was left into a riot tied up in string and tape, it was wild cherry pie, you had to be there I guess. Rockets laid waste on the battlefield as the bar manager looked onward with a brush and Annie Mac looked on in confusion at what had just happened. Still the people of Bottlerocket left with smiles and honor on their faces as well as Jagermeister down their spacesuits. and the Bottlerocket crew returned to their mothership Bristol and the rest is science. You can call us if like tho.

Dan Pearce

Dan Pearce is one of Bristol's hottest DJ's with a huge following in his home town and a reputation for his unforgettable sets, unique sound and trademark cutting edge style.

Masa Toyota was born in Tokyo, Japan. Masa came to England when he was 16 to produce music. Since then he produced a wide range of tracks from trance to deephouse with singles released on his label "DeEsser Recordings".

Schmidt was formed in 2002 when they met by chance at a local club in Bristol. Realiszing they had a common interest in dance music, breakbeat in particular, they began to write together in Masa's Bristol Harbourside studio. In the early days, their materials included some house remixes and funky house but they started to write more and more Breakbeat as they realized Schmidt's own unique sound is more suited to the funky rock beat rather than a simple 4-to-the-floor loop.

Richard Carnage

Richard Carnage has been running the TAPE night in Bristol for the last three years at multiple venues, now residing at Native in a bi-monthly slot. His sets are a mix of heady house, techno, dubstep, and disco that'll be sure to move both your mind and your feet. His writings for the well respected TAPE blog have brought him gigs as far afield as Gothenburg, Dublin, and even the main room at Stealth in Nottingham. He's now writing for both iDJ magazine and the Resident Advisor website, so he definitely knows his stuff as far as electronic music is concerned. He's relishing the chance to unleash some of his more wonky favourites for us lot at Drama, so be prepared to get down to some wrong late night vibes when he graces the T2 turntables.

Dan Masey

Dan Masey started out his career at Galaxy 101 fm in Bristol on the radio academy course. Soon after graduating, Dan still continued to do a lot of work as a technical operator alongside dj’s such as Paul Conroy, Steve Denyer and Deli G.
Whilst picking up various mixing skills here, Dan also took A level music Tech at college and ran a road show on weekends. Dan is now promoting his own night called New City Sound and playing for other club nights such as Electroquisite, Smartie Partie, Gods Kitchen, Hed kandi and Koolwaters. Most held at some of the southwest’s top clubs such as Syndicate, Turnmills, Tumbuk2 and Warehouse. Defiantly a fast riser in club land today.

His passion for all things Techno and House has seen him rock the floor at such nights as Loco, Electroquisite and Mode, sharing the bill with esteemed DJ’s such as get Physical’s finest Jona and Radio One’s Mistress De Funk, but to name a few.
