MARK MENDES (Starter/Toolroom Records)
At just 21, Mark Mendes is one of the youngest new talents to emerge on the house music scene in recent times.
Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Mark's love for electronic music developed from an early age, inspired by his uncle Matt Di Maria. At 16 he purchased his first set of decks and within a year had gained his first gig at Toronto's Palazza club.
It wasn't long before Mark was to become Toronto's youngest circuit DJ, playing regularly at the city's major venues including The Guvernment, Tonic, Seven and The Docks... At the same time, Mark was entering the world of production under the guidance of his uncle and his talents were immediately visable for all to see... soon developing a unique and distinctive style that has brought him the international attention he receives today...
In September 2007, Mark launched his own Starter Records label with a serious of own production releases that received worldwide acclaim from the house music fraternity... tracks such as 'His Music', 'Beneath You', 'Hubert Is Cool' and 'Straight Away', all of which found there way in to Beatport's Top Ten, with 'His Music' actually hitting the No.1 spot!!
Most recently Mark's talents have been recognised by highly respected house stable 'Toolroom' who enlisted his services to provide a remix of Dave Spoon & Paul Harris's crossover club monster 'Baditude'... the track receiving consecutive weeks airplay on Pete Tong's Essential Selection show...
Riding on the crest of a wave, Mark makes his Bristol debut and one of only a handful of UK appearances to date on a night that promises to be an outstanding finish to what has proved to be an exceptional series of EQ parties throughout 2008!!
Joining Mark in the main arch will be Electroquisite residents Luke Langson & Clinton Brown, the latter of which has himself been going from strength to strength this year on the production front, collaborating with the likes of Andy Chatterley & Adam Shaw, and recently signing to the highly rated Cr2 Records...
In Room 2, resident Alex Clark is joined by Jake Davis and YanMan, ensuring musical variation that suits all tastes throughout.
Doors for this event will open at 11pm, with the night running through until 5am. Advance tickets are not available for this night and therefore with this being the last event of the series, we would recommend arriving as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Entry is a mere £7 for NUS (with card), and £8 for all others.
