Fantastic event
In my opinion a large majority of the latest D&B is just noise and the only place to listen to it is in a large rave with thumping speakers and a packed floor, but unfortunately that is not Studie 3 in Bury St Edmunds. Its the kind of music that your parents or neighbours will be banging at your door to turn off. Don't get me wrong though, some of the new stuff is wicked, but not all.

After attending three Break Thru nights with only the finals left to attend, the above statement is what i come up with. For the first time in Bury St Ed's you get to hear the different styles in both D&B & jungle all played by djs with different or varing deck skills. The competition is about your skills as a D&B DJ, which includes your mixing skills and selection. The event is free (except drinks of course). Not sure how the judging of the event is done but it seems the crowd have an input, but this can seem bias at times. The winner of the competition gets to play at the nearing Oxjam event and play a set in Studio 3 on Sat 30th with the famous Skibba as your MC.

Unfortunately all the djs so far play the same style of music with the exception of DJ Peter Piper. He doesn't play like the others and his mixing skills are amazing. His selection varies each round he plays in ranging from 95 to 2007 Old Skool Jungle and Drum & Bass. Playing all these genres show this dj has both knowledge and tunes of them eras. But because its a young crowd averaging 20-25, they ain't ready for his style and tunes yet, which is a shame.

End of the day i tip this guy to win as his plays different and doesn't play the same as what we all want to hear, when was the last time you guys heard Remarc's Sound Murderer or music with vocals for the ladies so they can sway their booties?
