Music : All Music
This is a daytime event (e.g. starts late morning or early afternoon - see below for times).
We're back for 2007 with what could possibly be the finest free festival anywhere in the known universe, the strawberry fair crew have been racking their brains as to how we could improve the already excellent strawberry fair for 2007, we came up with strawberries!!!!!!!!! This year at strawberry fair we will be making a massive effort to have more strawberries, they are a good source of vitamin c and a particularly good with cream and vodka.
This year as well as the strawberries we will be showcasing the finest musical and creative talent from the greater Cambridge area.
For the grand total of £0.00 we will be providing 7 music stages a Kids area a cinema tent and a massive parade.
The 7 Stages will be
The East Stage - The Main bands stage a bit of punk / metal / indie / dance all mashed up into one great big pot of excellent music.
The Acoustic Stage - It does what it says on the tin really - but it's not in a tin infact it's in a tent. They'll have a hard time doing better than Jimbob on there in 2006 but I know the organisers will rise to the challenge.
The Bigwam Stage - It's unlikely they'll manage to get anything it the programme, because they haven't managed to get a line-up in there for the past 4 years, so you'll have to take our word for it, it'll be good.
The Reggae Stage - Hopefully this year it'll be in a bigger tent cos it's been getting a bit squashy in there for the last 2 years. Big sounds from Fatman and the reggae boys.
The Future Stage - You never know, I said it last year and I’ll say it again this year, everyone has to start somewhere and this is the place you could catch the next stone roses.
The Thetrikals Tent - A bit of poetry, a bit of performance, add a bundle of hippies, some dj's, a bit of acoustic, a bit of rock, shake well, add vodka and see what happens it will either be wonderful or it could involve lots of drunk hippies, we'll have to wait and see.
The Green Stage - The organisers promise me they'll be running the best dog on a string awards this year a sort of crufts for traveller pups!! As well as that there will be music, radical environmentalism, poetry and performance. If it starts raining I’m reliably informed they will have a shaman on site to do the sun dance.
The Kidz Area - The little rugrats have been destroying your houses all year and graffiting anything they can reach, now it's our turn to graffiti them...HA!!!! Face painting rules! There will also be free bouncy castles, trampolines and other kids stuff as well as chaos science workshops, craft stuff, the foolhardy folk circus and loads of other stuff. As famously quoted by Maud Flanders (RIP) "Won't somebody please think of the Children!!!!!"
The Arts Area - The Strawberry Fair arts posse will be spreading lo-tek lunacy around the site in 2007 there will be a circus tent showcasing local artists work and loads of other stuff they won't tell me about yet.
Remember Strawberry Fair is Europe’s largest volunteer powered, sponsorship free, not for profit, free festival, this is only possible with the Cambridge community’s continued support, if you can give a few hours on the day to steward, help out before the event with the crew work or by doing some art for us (painting backdrops and other decorations) or after the event by helping to pick up all the litter we generate then please drop an email to iwanttohelp@strawberry-fair.org.uk
See you all on Midsummer common - Long Live Strawberry Fair!!!!
