Just so we can get to know who you are a little better, if you were a type of car, what type would you be and why ?
I would be the car from chitty chitty bang bang because it’s a crazy but clever car that makes silly noises and can fly! lol
When did you first start your love affair with Dance Music, and what seduced you to come over to it's charms ?
I first got into Dance Music at the age of 13. When I was at school all the older kids had tape packs from Fantazia, World Dance etc and I was fascinated by the raw energy and buzz the music created. So I went to my first rave in 96 at The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes and was hooked and started going frequently to Helter Skelter, Evolution, Dreamscape up there plus Warning at the Junction in Cambridge, as I was into both Drum and Bass and Hardcore. Since then the styles that I enjoy have grown immensely and I listen to all sorts of music now including Psy Trance, Old Skool, Hard House, Hard Trance, Breaks but my main love is still Hardcore.

At what point did you decide to leave the world of work behind and strike it out on your own to be an MC ?
I finished a degree in music production and music business studies in 2004 and wanted to forge a career as a music producer but found it difficult getting into the scene. I got given the opportunity to go work for the Nu Energy Collective in 2005 and have learnt a lot since being here about the business and how things work. I found that to be a producer you need to be able to showcase your material and develop your own profile within the scene so I thought becoming an MC would be an ideal way to do this. I was in a world-famous choir at the age of 9 so knew I have a good voice plus a lot people have said that I’m a great entertainer so I thought these qualities would go well together in order to be a good MC.
When was it that you were really began to make it as an MC and how did that feel after putting in so much hard work ?
There were two real points that made me feel like I had made it and they were firstly when a track called “Team Special” which I had co-written with Eryk Orpheus and performed on as an MC got signed to Relentless Vinyl in November 2006, and secondly when I performed the track live for the first time during a live PA with Eryk at Frantic’s Timeless Romance in February 2006. The feeling of seeing a room full of people dancing to and enjoying a tune you created and having them interacting with you is truly amazing!
MC's often get a bad mouth in the dance scene from non believers, what do you have that makes you a great MC, and how did you learn that skill ?
Because I’m special! Only joking!
A lot of MCs take themselves too seriously and I feel it’s more about having fun, hosting, entertaining, and being dynamic on stage and to know when to let the music do the talking. As at the end of the day it’s all about the music!
I’ve had the amazing opportunity to get some great advice and training from one of the legendary MCs in the scene – Sharkey – who has taught me a great deal and helped me to develop my own style.
Which MC's would you say have been the greatest influence on your style ?
I would say Sharkey, Odyssey and Ribbz have all influenced my style.
What's the best experience you've ever had through your MCing talents on the dance scene ?
One of my best experiences would have to be the Freeformation night at HTID in the Sun 2007 and MCing b2b with Sharkey, Odyssey and Kevin Energy – definitely a Team Rave moment – brilliant!

Many many young people on the scene have alot of vocal skills - one thing about being an MC is that everyone can try it. What advice would you give to a young talented MC with no experience of the actual scene ?
My advice would be to watch other MCs and see how they work a crowd but don’t try and copy someone else’s style – be individual. Listen to the tunes and try to pitch your voice to the music. After each event that you do, analyse what went well and what didn’t go too well and work on improvements. Go to events and get to know people and give demos to promoters and DJs. Also producing your own tunes is a great way to get yourself known in the scene too.
What would be your ideal party, where would it be and which DJs would you have on the list ? Would you go back to back with any MC's, and if so, who ?
My ideal event would be on a desert island in the blazing sun shine with a good mix of music including Hardcore, Drum and Bass, Hard Dance, Old Skool, Psy Trance, Breaks and Dirty Electro.
Too many DJs to list but some would be Kevin Energy, Sharkey, Andy C, Hype, Astrix, Eskimo, Ed Real, Phil York, Vinyl Vera, Prodigy, Ben Gomori, Marco V plus MCs Skibadee, Fearless, Sharkey, Odyssey… sorry the list could go on!
An awesome set would be Hardcore vs Drum and Bass with Andy C and Kevin Energy on the decks and with Sharkey & Special G and Fearless & Skibadee on the mic – Let the battle commence! Ha ha!
