DSI caught an exclusive chat with man-of-the-moment, accepted in the '80s, girl-getting and Kylie Minogue producing, Calvin Harris! His headline appearence at Electric Gardens Festival in Kent on 4/5th August seemed like a good enough reason to fire some festie-related questions at him.
What was the first festival you ever shook your booty at?
I don't “shake” my booty, I grind.
What was your No.1 fave festival of all time and why?
T in The Park was amazing. None of us were expecting the kind of reaction we got.
Fave all time festival moment?
At Oxygen festival in Ireland I caught a banana thrown towards me from somewhere in the middle of the tent, peeled it, ate half of it, and threw the other half back into the crowd. It was a beautiful moment.
Worst festival moment – ever had an absolute nightmare before – personally or with band?
When we did Glastonbury it was pretty horrible. I was quite ill, couldn't really breathe, see or stand properly, but we did alright I suppose. I tied a loaf of bread to my jeans to exorcise the ill-demons for the performance, it must have worked.
Fave festival song?
The Killers – ‘Mr.Brightside’ is a good one at the moment
Fave festival tipple?

Top festival survival tips?

How do UK festivals to compare to overseas festies?
No idea...more people speak English over here
Which of your track always seems to get the biggest reaction when you play?
‘The Girls’ or ‘Vegas’, ‘The Girls’ because obviously its the biggest record, and Vegas is just a big fat live record.
Who’s the funniest person you’ve met while gigging and promoting your records?
Stuart Zender from the Mark Ronson band, formerly of Jamiroquai, is actually mental. Lovely guy though!
When was the last time you had an argument with your band mates? What was it about and how did it resolve itself?
The thing about this band is, we argue constantly so there is never a big argument. It’s a good system we have.
Electric Gardens – what’s it saying to you? Line-up, location etc?
I like Kent, it’s leafy.
Why should we choose to see you play at Electric Gardens over anyone else who’s on at the same time?
We'll be better looking.
