Chelmsfords 'soon to be' leading live music and DJ venue. coming out in The Edge: Coming to Chelmsford in August . . . barhouse. barhouse is a brand new music venue dedicated to cutting edge ‘live music’ and DJs both owned and run by true music fans for music fans. In the past, the management team of Marc Miller and Jon Board have programmed and promoted some of London’s leading venues and parties, including Alwayz Frydaze, Egg, 93 Feet East, 54 Commercial Road, and Magic Circle. barhouse have taken over the Elan Lounge/Bar Toucan site in Victoria Road. The ground floor will feature a permanent ‘live music’ set-up to a standard which is currently nowhere to be found locally, with a full live sound system, stage, lighting and sound engineer. Bands, artists and live acts featured will be a mix from the indie, new wave, electronica, rock and urban scenes. Upstairs at barhouse, the 'lounge' will have a full DJ set-up with an early evening policy of funk and soul, followed by house, techno and dance music played into the early hours. The decor will intentionally have a ‘living room feel’ in order to offer the impression that you are really ‘round a friends house having a party’! Think Soho House Members Club with cutting edge dance music and you won’t be far wrong. barhouse is going to be 100% dedicated to music culture with art/graffiti (to purchase) displayed on its walls. It will also be a haunt to pick up fanzines. ‘Live bands’ will feature on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with DJs playing every single night of the week. There will also be a student indie disco night with cheap drink offers every Monday evening. barhouse will also boast one of Chelmsford’s most inviting outdoor smoking areas with sofas, heating, music and even an outdoor pool table! Marc and Jon’s aim is to provide a unique and regular music experience to our town and the surrounding areas that has not previously be seen in the ‘Chelmsford hood’. Their intention is to showcase the very best of Essex talent which until now has been largely ignored. As well as featuring the leading promoters from Chelmsford, barhouse will also be bringing in bands and DJs from around the UK and even beyond, with current future bookings includingBoys Noize artist Shadow Dancer, San Francisco's Worthy (Dirtybird) and Berlin’s massively in-demand producer Shir Khan. barhouse are currently looking for ‘live bands’, promoters, DJs, graffiti artists and bar staff to get involved and join them in this fantastic new adventure for Chelmsford.
