STATEMENT FROM HARDCORE NATION HQ
HARDCORE NATION STATEMENT.

DnB Marquee.
We applied to the council and police for a temporary event notice (TEN) as this was refused the marquee we had planned to put on the closed road at the front of the rainbow could not be installed. The (TEN) also included an application to vary the licensed hours of the venue allowing us to play music and serve alcohol from 5pm-7am. As the entire application was rejected we could not host the DnB room or open at the times planned. These things were out of our control and we were only told 2 days before the event that we could not do what was planned. Immediately we engaged in talks to try and solve the problems. Looking back I don’t think it was a bad thing the DnB not talking place at the venue. Especially after the major incident outside another venue holding a DnB event the same night. It’s not hard to see why the authorities are not keen on 2 DnB nights taking place at the same time on the same night in the same city. The (TEN) for a road closure on that particular road was granted earlier in the year for another event with a different genre of music we had no reason to expect we would not have our application granted.

Door Price / Ticket Price
The door price was indeed £30. This price is in line with other promoters. Our advanced tickets were priced at £10 and £15 in advance a hell of a lot cheaper than other promoters. These tickets were available up until 5pm on the day of the event. There is no excuse for people complaining about the door price. If you don’t like the door price then buy a ticket. Guaranteed entry was £17, again much lower than other promoters usually charge.

Door Staff
People have mentioned the door staff at the venue. The door team at the venue are the best team I have ever worked with. They were both fair and professional. You can never please everyone 100% of the time.

Sound
All rooms of the rainbow were fitted with function one sound systems. A qualified sound engineer was on site all night to monitor the systems. I am aware at some polints during the night there were small problems with the systems in various rooms these were adressed emmidatly and rectified.

DJs
> Seduction
DJ seduction is managed by Andy Bowler. DJ Seduction was paid in full his full fee 2 weeks prior to the event. His set time was also given to him at the point the payment was made. No contact was made with us or his agent informing us he would not be playing at the event To date it still remains a mystery why seduction did not turn up to play. I have been in contact with Seductions management who too are a little perplexed over the incident. Andy Bowler is currently out of the country when he returns i have asked him to post an official statement.

> Styles
We received notification from Hixxy that styles would not be playing due to the death of a close friend. Again this is totally out of our control. Our sympathy goes out to Darren Styles at this difficult time.

> SY
DJ Sy was booked and paid 50% of his fee over 4 months before the date of the event. Sy was going to be playing second from last set. Due to adverse weather conditions he was not able to make it to the event in time for his set as he had another gig in another area of the country. Again this was totally out of our control. After numerous phone conversations with Sy we substituted Sy with DJ Supreme.

> Obie
Obie was booked to perform, over 2 weeks prior to the event Obie was given his set time. One day before the event Obie was contacted and told that for the last 15 minutes of his set we wanted him to go back to back with our resident Mc Ricta. Contact was made by email. On the day of the event Obie sent an email around 3pm. This email was not read until after the event. The email was asking for confirmation of set time. As we had already given all main room DJs set times weeks before the event we did not expect DJ’s to need these re confirming before travelling to the event. If DJ's / Mc's are booked to play we expect them to turn up at the time they are booked unless we have been in contact to say different. Obie decided that because we did not reply to his email (sent at 3pm on the day of the event) he would not attend the event. Again this issue is out of our control. The venue has no internet access and all staff were on site from 2pm meaning emails sent after 2pm could not be read or replied to.

> Andy Whitby & Cally Gage
As stated before on various forums. Andy Whitby and Cally Gage were replaced on the line-up by other DJs, this was due the fact they were blocked from playing by another local venue. Andy Whitby attended the event as a customer! There’s not many events that can say Andy Whitby has attended out of choice and not because he is being paid to play there. Maybe the fact he attended even though he was not playing says something about the event.

> Squad-E
Squad-E played last set, he is another DJ managed by Andy Bowler. Squad-E was paid his full fee over 2 weeks before the event. The fact he was "kicking off" toward the end of the night because we refused to pay him TWICE is not down to us. It is Squad-E's mistake he didn’t not check his diary or speak to his management regarding his fee!

Opening times
As stated above, we could only open from 7pm - 6am due to the fact the (TEN) notice was not approved. This meant the venue was not licensed to open at the planned times.

Disclaimer
The flyer clearly states. "E&OE. Line-up subject to change without prior notice..." Web press also states next to times (Subject to license)

Swimming Pool
We received a letter from Health and Safety stating we could not use a swimming pool at the event due to safety reasons. For this reason there was no pool at the event.

Queue time
We apologise for the problems with the queue. We had planned on using 2 entrances t the venue. One for VIP's and ticket holders the other for guaranteed entry and pay on the door. We were told we could only use one entry point to the venue and this meant everyone had to be admitted through a single door less than a meter wide. This slowed admissions down and resulted in the long queue time.

Full venue
We would like to apologise to those of you who arrived at the venue to pay on the door and were turned away because the venue was full. We reached full capacity shortly after midnight. We still had a number of people with tickets codes who had paid for tickets and not been admitted. It was decided that we would operate a one in one out policy and allow ticket holders entry only after that point. This was the only option available to us. As ticket holders had paid for an advanced ticket and to be admitted to the venue. We could not turn them away when they had gone to the effort to purchase an advance ticket. This is why pay on the door customers were turned away.

To conclude, a lot of time money and effort goes into putting on these events. The Hardcore Nation team works hard to try and deliver on everything we put on the flyer. Each event takes around 4 months to plan and promote. If people out here think they can do a better job than please do so! It’s one thing saying you can do a better job yourself and it’s another thing doing it. So come on... if you really think you can do better then put your money where your mouth is and do it....

We cant get 100% of things right 100% of the time. IF you don’t like our events then it’s simple DON’T COME!

People are first to post about the negatives, but very few seem to want to post about the positives.

We are not going to let the views of the minority spoil things for the majority... Hardcore Nation will be back bigger, better and louder.

More info soon.

Let me put it another way:

If I pay £30/month for my cable TV, which advertises 100 channels, and when I get it I only have access to 40 channels, even if I happen to enjoy the 40 channels I have I'm still going to be annoyed because I'm missing another 60 channels some of which I might like. I'm going to be even more annoyed when the 40 channels I've got are the repeat channels where I can only watch the same things over and over again. The final straw would be if the cable company knew I'm only going to get 40 channels and tell me that it's tough shit and that I should just lump it because it's out of their hands when it blatantly isn't.

Promoting is a business, it's not a favour to the ravers. I don't owe the promoters anything, I paid them my money for their services and turned up and showed my love for what was there.

I've been to similar nights where things have gone wrong with licenses etc in a similar fashion, and all of them have plastered it all over the place that they're not going to be able to do what was advertised, made huge apologies and even got in extra headline DJs at very short notice to make up for it, or even done heavily reduced discount next events to make it up to people. None of them have ever hidden the problems from the punters, then turned around and told them to fuck off and lump it.
