Break Out 18 April-meet the DJs: resident Chris Hughes

Here at the Break Out headquarters we thought it was about time we shine the light on our fantastic resident Chris Hughes. Chris has been on board with Break Out as a resident since June 2006 and he has consistently played fantastic sets each and every time he has played for us. Chris’s underground, dirty house tracks combined with nothing less that impeccable mixing have built him up a loyal following with the Break Out crowd and throughout Gloucestershire.

Not only this, but Chris has an exceptional talent that enables him to play the right set at the right time of night. Whether it be warming up the crowd, playing a slamming peak-time set or closing the night on a high, a Chris Hughes set really epitomizes the Break Out ethos: cutting-edge, dirty house music for a crowd that knows their music and knows how to party!

(Chris @ Break Out Doctors & Nurses special)

Chris favours producers such as: Deadmau5, Tocadisco, Eric Prydz, Chris Lake and Filthy Rich to create sets jam-packed with filthy tunes, whilst a nod to techno keeps it on the tough side. Chris always keeps the dancefloor packed and seems to get his hands on the hottest new cuts months before anyone else! His current tried and test Top 5 is:

1. Sydney Blu - Give it up for me (original mix)
2. Kid Dub - Tetris (Tocadisco edit)
3. Hyper - No Rockstars (Bass Kleph remix)
4. The Aston Shuffle - For Everyone (Stupid Fresh remix)
5. Deadmau5 - Arguru (5un5hine remix)

Chris's talent has secured him sets at a wealth of clubs and bars around Cheltenham (including all of our Break Out events at clubs & bars around the ‘Nham: Bohemia/The Hub, The 2Pigs, Subtone, Moda, CoCo Lush) plus Relish & Bar Riga in Stroud, Paranoid in Gloucester and several gigs for Unauthorized in Bristol. Chris was also a regular popular DJ at the legendary Royal Well Tavern in Cheltenham, a wicked underground venue which housed many a fantastic debauched weekend event till its closure in 2006. Chris rocked a massive range of events at the Royal Well including Area 51, Relish, Bangers & Mash to name but a few. Further afield, Chris’s London debut was a massive success as he rocked a rammed T3 at the legendary London club Turnmills for Break Out; and at Break Out’s first international event at the exclusive Es Vive hotel Chris played one of the stand-out sets of the night.

2008 is looking good for Chris: alongside rocking our Break Out events, you can also catch him at Swindon’s hot electro night “Elektrophonik” on June 14th and the ElectronicSessions boat party in London in September.

(Chris & Simon @ Break Out)

Simon Pisani (Break Out promoter/DJ) says: “I echo everything in this article….there are big times ahead for Chris Hughes. He really is such a crowd enthusing DJ with so many great tracks in his hands ready to rock any decks he sets eyes on. I am proud to have Chris working with us and he is also a great friend too. It’s great that he has been part of Break Out pretty much from the beginning...here's to our 3rd successful year of events! Looking forward to you rocking it on Friday night dude!’’

To whet your appetite ready for our second birthday bash on Friday @ Dakota, check out www.djchrishughes.co.uk where you can download his fresh, storming new mix “Sydney Beats”. You can also download his back catalogue of mixes – trust us, they are top-notch. If you like your house beats dirty & driving, you will love his mixes.

See you all this friday!
