A night to indeed *relish*
It’s the end of another summer everybody! The nights are drawing in and people have started to wear hoodys for reasons other than to be unceremoniously ejected from Bluewater shopping centre. Party people up and down the land sit around and reminisce with each other about yet another lost fortnight on the White Isle, tell stories about how they had a really interesting conversation with some mildly entertaining crusty, as the sun came up on the second day of GLADE. Madcapped anecdotes of wicked moments during GG and of course loads of moaning about how unfair it is that Shrooms aren’t legal anymore! However, in a tiny corner of Gloucestershire last Friday about 200+ people packed into The Hub in Cheltenham for another helping of *relish*. I think its safe to say that nobody was worried about the demise of hot balmy nights on terraces, as it was time to have a party to celebrate the onset of Autumn……….Well that wasn’t really the theme of the party but as always at *relish* the theme was no attitude! Have fun! Make friends! Have a damn good stomp and enjoy some different sounds through the course of the night!

So to kick things off in the main room we had Alex Evans making a truly superb first appearance at *relish*, pleasing my ears with some lovely chuggy melodic progressive house. This was only the 3rd time this night has run and already I noticed that there were some now familiar faces on the dance floor early doors……….dare I now call them *relish* regulars? So we had a party on our hands right from the off and I overheard lots of positive comments about Alex’s set. His biggest tunes of the night had to be Spector-Narcotic Fuel (Stel remix) and Santiago Nino-Big Risk. I for one was also very impressed, well done mate!
By now the place was pretty packed and there was a real good vibe going around everybody I think was looking to get down and dirty. But who could possibly give us just what we needed? As I was pondering this question a knowing smile spread across my face because Lizzie Curious was skipping towards the DJ box!..................”.Hehehe here we go!” I thought. Boy she did not disappoint, moving us swiftly into some wicked dirty electro house. I know I have said it a few times I admit but hell, I will say it again the energy and vibe this girl creates when she is behind the decks is just fantastic! Dance floor was loving every minute and numbers started to swell on it during the course of her set, the highlight of which had to be the King Roc remix of S-Express……………Great stuff!
Next up was Si Tizzard who jilted all our drunken asses up a gear by belting out some pumping tough uplifting trance! I could tell from the looks on people’s faces that this was turning out to be a really top night, unfortunately, I was having too good a night by this point and I can’t quite remember the exact tracks that Si played although I do have a fuzzy memory of lots of tasty new Anjuna Beats numbers………….perhaps Mr Tizzard will remind me later? I do remember that his set rocked though and I got well and truly stuck into the madness!....................hats off to da man!
Everybody was so busy having fun by this point that no one noticed that Lizzie Curious had slipped off to a nearby phone box and after much twirling and spinning inside………….re-appeared behind the decks as Starlet! She then proceeded to create a forest of hands in the air on the dance floor playing tunes such as OceanLab Satellite……….Lovely trance classic! I could go on again about how good this gal is but I have a rule that I only heap lots of praise on one alter-ego per review ha ha!
To finish things off Ludo (from Cheltenham’s longstanding Bangers & Mash night) and Karma played a storming B2B set, including a superb new hard remix of Pearl River and nice to hear Glazby's Free Your Mind getting another airing, that hoovertastic riff is a dancefloor destroyer!!

During all the mischief in the main room, upstairs the Breaks room really came into its own! With people packed in just as much as downstairs Evil Twin created a funky start to things as people chilled on the multitude of comfy seating and also indulged in some truly evil shots that were on offer at the bar up there………….Ive never had a Tit Flash and 2 Quick Shags in 1 night before! Jase stepped things up a notch with absolutely fantastic scratching tricks (have him back please!!!!! It was wicked!!!) and then local legend Just-in also indulged in some scratching trickery! It was all so damn good!

Yet again I take my hat, shirt, socks and undies off to the *relish* crew for stepping up and putting on yet another fantastic party! I can’t wait until the next one on 28th Oct. apparently it is a certain bouncy energetic female DJ’s birthday celebration so should be extra special! A little bird also tells me that its gonna be fancy dress……………So I am off to dust down my Gimp costume now!
