Was it always the plan for you to get married (when it became an option) or was it a surprise?

LOL, well... way back when I wanted to get married but he didn't, then we agreed to get married but he chickened out on the day and I swore i'd then never marry him and then he wanted to marry me but I refused for years to entertain the idea....then last summer I wanted a new dress which was a bit pricey and he said he'd buy it for me if i married him...I agreed we got married...I never actually got the dress, lol ;-)

haha!! Quality story lol. So that's why it wasn't an option! Well you got there in the end and I can imagine the wait made it more worthwhile. That is quite bad to chicken out on the day I can't imagine how that would feel! :S

It was ok really. I was a bit pissed off yea but such is life and I couldn't change it so I just took the dress off and forgot about it ;-)

I'm a pretty easy going person most of the time and I tend to just deal with stuff like that.

Naaa...I got a new car instead, lol (although strictly speaking that was a gift to compensate for his serious misdemeanours on his stag weekend, lol).

What else can ya do when life throws stuff like that at ya?

Exactly, ya just gotta smile and get on with it ;-)

My rich is pretty stubborn and controlling in everyway lol. He is materialistic though so bribe's work.

Ok...the Golden Coast is where I had my wedding. A nice venue yes - out of this world no. Very good weddings manager within the hotel called Maria - lovely woman who made sure everything ran smoothly for me and was there to straighten my dress etc. Downside to this place was the fact that we were near the pool area and had to walk through it....not really a downside though when you consider all the compliments I got , all the grannies I made happy and the massive round of applause from holidaymakers when we'd finally done the deed, lol.

Have a couple of pleasant spots for photos here but nothing amazing.

Paralimni Town hall...pleasant but you might as well get married in the register office here to be honest. Nice building though and nice people...you'll need to go there before you marry anyway to sort your documents and sign your marriage certificate....oh...and pay the fee! lol

Capo Bay...again pleasant and I wondered if maybe I should have gone there instead..still nothing special though to be completely honest. I don't know the wedding co-ordinator there.

Last but by no means least the Grecian Park Hotel...OH MY GOD!!!!! This was where I wanted to get married but they couldn't fit me in. Their civil venue is THE single most amazing place in Cyprus...at the top of a cliff in a beautiful, secluded area directly overlooking the stunning Cavo Greko (Cape Greco). There is a fabulous (I mean fabulous) Clifftop bar just above the wedding area - it is totally divine!! little lights and secluded tables and chairs...WOW!!!

This place does cost a little more but you have the quality and if I could do it again that is where I would be no matter what.

I'll see if I can dig out some photos that I took - my brother in law gave us a couple of nights there as a wedding present...didn't rate the rooms much though the beds were HUUUUGE! and there was sky news on the telly which kept me happy. The rest of the hotel though is gorgeous....they don't complain if you steal the towels either ;-) LOL.

I think with all these venues, it is only the Grecian Park which try to insist that you stay there for min 7 nights in order to get married there....it IS possible to do it without the 7 night stay if you can speak to the right people!!

Have you considered other venues other than the ones medweds offer?

almost all companies offer the same venues if we want protaras - we have manged to find cheaper flights to larnaca so it needs to be around that side of the island

has to be a civil service as we are not religious at all

and can't afford to stay in the grecian :( there is 10 of us going and a luxury Villa for that time of year is only £1000 for the week

Yep...I have a friend called Alla who can basically organise a wedding wherever the hell you want it - she did mine (just dealing with the actual booking and the paperwork) and it cost me less that £100. I can dig out her info for you if you want it...infact, I think she has a website done now i'll check it out for you.

I can also recommend people to do hair and makeup and nails...all english and all fab. Same goes for photos and videos etc...you so gotta have Steve do it if you want any!! He's excellent and quite likes decent music eg. hardhouse and a bit of trance ;-)

As for the villa, I reckon they're taking the piss charging that in April - I got 5 bed luxury villa with pool etc in July for that!

For different hotel venues you could consider the Nissi beach - nice and the closest you can get to the actual beach for a wedding in Cyprus.

I'd be wanting someone in the know to talk to the Grecian park, lol....there is also the Grecian BAY hotel which is lovely but a little cheaper - get them to do the wedding ceremony and then pop nextdoor to the Melissi Beach hotel for the reception - excellent food nd the happiest friendliest people you will ever meet!

yeah if you can find her website that would be fab - if i can get it all booked cheaper myself than to book through a company then i;m all for that!

Well what I had would have cost roughly £1500 if i'd gone through a wedding organiser and then flights and accomodation etc on top of that.

What I actually paid for the wedding, reception and 'stuff' was closer to £750.

My full 2 weeks in the sun including villa, flights, luxury car hire, wedding....everything!! cost me less than £3000....there were 12 of us.

I didn't pay for all the flights! and one set of friends organised wedding cars so that saved me some cash but I still got it reasonably priced even if you add that stuff on to my bill.

The trick is to know what you want (roughly) and to know how things work over there and where things are...the wedding organisers always make it seem like you can have a lovely whit merc for a wedding car complete with ribbons...what they fail to tell you is that white mercs are ten a penny and used by EVERYONE as taxis all over the island, lol...we had them for our guests to and from the wedding (Agia napa to the far side of Protaras, return journey) cost a grand total of £11 and the taxi drivers did the bows for free and even put flowers on the cars!

LOL, I told you i'd help if you want me to!

Alla is wonderful (and beautiful - its sickening, lol). She will basically do whatever you want her to do...as little or as much as you want. For me as I said, she just booked the venue and sorted the paperwork...was easier to have someone on the ground so to speak although it was perfectly possible to do it myself and save the £100.

She also decorated my reception venue for me but that was a separate issue...something I decided on the day before the wedding so I popped into her shop pointed to what I wanted and she organised it all for me...I have pics somewhere...will drag the wedding stuff with me when I see you next week if you want ;-)

As for the timing of it well they were awkward with us and wanted us to be resident for 5 days before...check it very carefully!
