We take the 'happy' bus from the centre of Chichester and make our way to the top deck. We share the bus with a loud party from Portsmouth who are shouting 'Portmouth is the best' at the top of their voices .. a city so good it seems that they visit Chichester instead ..

We arrive at Thurday's nightclub and I start thinking about what stories I'd heard:

1. It's really small
2. The music's s**t
3. I'd rather go to Portsmouth/Brighton/London/etc

I pay my fee at the door to get in (the bus was free!) and enter through the double doors..

Well, it's not as big as the Hippodrome in London. Having said that, the drink prices aren't the same as London. The place seems inviting and the music is awesome. Now, there's truth in the case of ex-DJ's reviewing clubs are like ex-smokers giving out advice on giving up smoking .. we are not popular with our out-pourings but I was really pleasantly surprised.

I'm met Phil (the DJ of the night) a couple of times before but not enough to say I have his mobile number so I don't let him know I'm in the club for a while so I can listen without the feeling someone is trying hard to impress.

The people here are all smiling .. the drinks are flowing .. and the music is loud but not too much so, tight, well mixed and varied, but always on a dance vibe. Phil and his team (Jon C and Matt) are obviously loving their job and putting real effort into making sure people are gonna enjoy their evening. My only regret is forgetting my DSI cards (doh!) so most of the pictures are of the many people on the packed-all-night dancefloor.

My main piece of advice? Get a lift or taxi home - don't walk home as it takes forever, is dark in places and there's no kebab/burger/Macdonalds on the way either!

Oh, and the Portsmouth party? They spent most of the night on the dancefloor and were having a bloody good time (like the rest of us) so welcome to Chichester!

My thanks then go to Phil and the DJ / lights team who put on a blinding show, the bar staff who served drinks real quick even though it was a packed night, the security staff who were ever present and professional but let us have our fun. Oh and the various people who let me take their pictures on the night (especially the Chichester District Council and West Sussex County Council crews)

I'll certainly be back again ...
