Shrovetide - Basically a game of street football in Ashbourne. Hundreds of players, hundreds of followers. Players and followers split into Up'ards and Down'ards and each team aim to score at their own goal, both goals 1.5miles either way out of the town centre. Ball can go anywhere, exceptions being transport, churchyards and building sites. Two whole days of drinking and fun!
