John O’Callaghan is rising up the DJ ranks rapidly, in the last year he hit number 60 in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, picked up the ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best DJ’ trophies at the Irish Dance Music Awards, spun his first Radio 1 Essential Mix and became the first Irishman to play Trance Energy in The Netherlands!
Production wise John’s notched-up releases on some of the most respected labels in the industry, prompting Paul Van Dyk to mark him “One of the most exciting producers in the world today!”
Huge tracks like ‘The Chamber’, ‘Exactly’, ‘Space & Time’ and ‘Big Sky’ have all become mainstays of DJs sets on many revered trance imprints. John also produces through a number of pseudonyms, including Joint Operations Centre and J.O.C. Under the latter he indulges his love of techno-fringed productions, releasing ‘Rotterdam’ on Sander van Doorn’s own ‘Doorn Records’, proving how diverse he can be.
With John’s highly anticipated 2nd artist album coming out in May 2009 on Armada records we thought this would be a perfect time to invite him to grace the Amplified decks.

Simon Patterson is one of the hottest properties in dance music right now. His creative offerings as a producer and DJ have captivated audiences worldwide at events including Trance Energy and the infamous ASOT 400 event.
Signed to the hugely respected Spinnin’ Records as well as releasing tracks on labels such as Anjuna and Doorn, Simon’s music has earned him massive support from industry leaders such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules and Above & Beyond. With tracks such as Bulldozer, Us, Smack and Thump attaining almost cult statues, coupled with widespread acclaim from the dance media and fans alike.
However, it’s when he’s behind the decks that the sound of Simon comes alive. With a style described as cutting edge, dark, driving, pulsating, Simon’s technical ability is a finely tuned art that fuses trance with elements of techno and electronica.

Support comes from guest DJ Freesoup, a true up and coming DJ and producer, his effort and commitment towards his DJ sets and productions hasn’t gone un-noticed.
A regular at trance nights across the north of England with recent appearances at events such as Digital Society, Majefa & Tranceported, he remains a firm favourite on the "one to watch" list. 2009 has seen the re-launch of his own imprint Soup Recordings return to the forefront of the trance scene and with future releases & remixes from Freesoup himself such as "Rider" and "Headlock", the year ahead looks promising!

Completing the main room lineup is Amplified’s own resident AJ Hutch. Gig wise AJ Hutch has been appearing regularly at super club Passion and has a forthcoming international first playing on Sweden’s infamous Monday Bar Cruise in June. Production wise AJ Hutch has had recent track support from John O’Callaghan, Sean Tyas, Neal Scarborough and Paul Webster as well as being tipped as a “rising star” by John O’Callaghan on his Subculture podcast.

The Venue
The Royal is located in the Grade II listed Royal building on Victoria Street in Derby. The venue is split into two rooms, The Blue room is a 400+ capacity Grand Ball Room and The Red Room a 200+ capacity providing intimate and decadent surroundings.
Both rooms are unique in style whilst retaining many original features, chandeliers, wooden floors, high ceilings and period detail.
