La Folie Douce comes to the UK Sat August 13th

This article is about La Folie Douce @ Camelots in Doncaster (UK), Sat 13 Aug 2005

La Folie Douce are a new sensation in clubland that mix the skin tingling sensation of live music together with the non-stop dance action of a top DJ.

Based in the South of France Kely Starlight (vocalist and pictured above) formed the group from an idea born on the banks of Lake Geneva last summer after several seasons of working the apres-ski scene in the French Alps.

La Folie Douce (French for sweet madness) finally emerged in 2004 with David Dupenloup - a resident DJ in St.Tropez - spinning the funky, vocal house and good ol' club dance tracks, Kely adding the live vocals, Bertrand providing the sweet sound of an electric violin, Petra from Sweden belting out the sax and Papa-Desire complimenting the unique atmosphere with the drums.

Any visitors to Val D'Isere this last ski season no doubt would have heard their funky club sounds pumping around the mountain as they played live at La Folie Douce mountain terrace every day from 3 -5 in the afternoon.

The international vibe of this Southern French ensemble has mean't that they are now have bookings around the world this summer performing in places such as Turkey, Switzerland, Belgium and New Zealand.

Their first performance in the UK is on Saturday 13th August at Camelots in Doncaster. As its their first event here advance tickets are only £5.00 (available from BJ promotions on 07799 067980) with an entry fee of £7.00 on the door.

They are also looking to come back to the UK in October to perform at some of London's funkiest venues so keep an eye on these guy's - they could really kick start a whole new era in the term 'club entertainment'.

Fantastic about Folie Douce - Saw these guys at the end of Ski Season in March - they had apres ski bumping to early hours - great mix of old school and dance, with added bonus of flamboyant singer - Miss Kelly on vocals, sax, violin and drums. Heard they were touring Europe never dreamed they come to Doncaster!!!! Gr8 'I can't wait for the weekend to begin!!!

Hell yeah! Was in Val a couple of months ago and the sounds of this lot on the mountain are large. Even during a white-out blizzard, their sound guided me to the bar - and safety!
