Music : House
This month Karnival hosts the Scottish Debut of boy-wonder, Jim Rivers!
London, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Dublin, Mexico, Shanghai, Athens, Amsterdam, Novi Sad… in the last year Jim has travelled the world with his techy, glitchy, groovy electronic house music - and looking into the future and forthcoming tours and releases, it's all about to get crazier.
Jim has continued to build on his reputation since his first release on the respected Saw Recordings in 2006 (Restore/Future EP). Since then releases have followed on labels such as Saved, EQ, Global Underground and Renaissance, and remixes for Nic Fanciulli, Quivver and Gabriel and Dresden all continuing to show Jim's unique style and take on dance music.
Jim has also developed a studio partnership with Paolo Mojo. Their first collaboration, Darkplace, is coming out on Paolo's own Oosh imprint and has received countless plays on Pete Tong's legendary Essential Selection, while another of their tracks, Ron Hardy Said, is being released on Jim's own brand new imprint, Misfit Records.
Our own Mike Pinkerton will be on hand to warm things up in the main room and European A&R and tour DJ for USA based record label Reticent Recordings, Craig Ramsay, will be joining resident Matt Edwards in room 2 for some back-to-back action. Expect to hear some seriously jackin' Chicago house grooves.
Stringfellow Hawk hosts the Speakeasy room playing his usual mish-mash of old skool house, funk, soul and motown
