Saturday 14th November sees Karnival host a Soma Records party with special guests SLAM & HARVEY McKAY (LIVE) plus Karnival resident trio MIKE PINKERTON, MATT EDWARDS and RYAN ELLIS.

SLAM
Slam have long been key figures in the UK dance music, and it goes without saying that they're the kings of the Scottish scene.

Slam have played all around the world, championing UK underground electronic music wherever they go, yet they've always retained their home base in Glasgow, where they have helped to develop and influence one of the best music and party cities anywhere on the planet.

Just ask any of the bands and DJs who have performed at their monthly Pressure parties. People like Vitalic, Luciano, Beyer, Villalobos, Mills, Hawtin, Green Velvet and Weatherall all cite the city and the club as being amongst their favourite places to play.

Every summer, Slam curate the dance music tent at T in the Park. They've been doing it for years, and each July it's one of the busiest tents at the always-sold-out festival. In fact it's so popular, many TITP visitors spend their entire weekend in there. Who needs the main stage when you've got Slam?

Orde and Stuart have an enduring passion for dance music, and their label, Soma Records, is another example of their dedication to the cause. At a time where its daunting to be an independent label, Soma are incessant in their march forward, clocking up in excess of 200 releases. Soma's artists - such as Alex Smoke, Vector Lovers, the Black Dog and last month's guest, Funk D Void - help to make the label one of the most forward-thinking around.

HARVEY McKAY.
Harvey is one of a school of new young artists to come out from Glasgow’s thriving underground club circuit. Music runs through Harvey’s blood. With a drummer for a father he was constantly exposed to rhythm even in his days in the womb and eventually began his own exploits in primary school at the age of 10. While other kids were busy learning Maths and English, Harvey was cutting about with all the wrong crowds and learning how to mix on his first decks. It eventually paid off when he earned his first residency in Tin Pin Alley at the less-than-legal age of 16. Since then his DJing career has been on the up, touring with Smirnoff Ice and M8 Magazine before he finally made the decision to turn his ear to production.
