feel ashamed to be scottish today, just been watchin videos of the rangers fans rioting and fighting police in manc last night/ths morning. news.bbc.co.uk we had one of the best reputations in the world for our travelling supports and the way we conduct ourselves abroad. thats destroyed now. their behaviour has prob cost their team european football next season aswell.

indeed, a russian fan was stabbed by 6 rangers fans INSIDE the stadium, pure scum. hopefully their season will fall apart now their luck has finally run out.

Seen some of the videos, its ridiculous. No way was it the 'minority'! I was telling people that i met on holiday from Manchester that it wasn't a bunch of drunk jolly people coming down for a day out, they are scum! To whom this may concern,

I am writing to you with regards to last night’s UEFA cup final.

I would like to start by offering my congratulations on the Rangers team reaching a European final, a quite unbelievable and ridiculous achievement for a club such as yours.

However, the main thrust of this correspondence does not relate to the game itself (which I thoroughly enjoyed) but instead to the disgraceful behaviour of an element of the Rangers support in Manchester. Scottish football fans have built an excellent reputation over a number of years which, until last night, was unrivalled around the world. This all changed last night when a significant (in size , if not intelligence) group of supporters from your club started causing public disorder in Manchester before entering into pitched battles with police officers who were trying to restore calm. Police officers provide a critical service to our society and do not deserve to be attacked by mindless thugs who feel it appropriate to cause a mass riot because “the TV broke”. If I decided to walk around my street smashing cars up and attacking other people because my television went on the blink I would fully expect a visit from the police……….. and no, it wouldn’t make my behaviour acceptable if I put on a football top and necked a couple of cans of Skol lager before my rampage. As a supporter of football but neither of the Old Firm, I have to say that your rivals Celtic Football Club are much more deserving of entry into future European competition based on the behaviour of their fans at previous away matches. To the contrary, your support regularly seems to involve itself with the police forces of other countries and is incredibly successful in dragging the reputation of Scottish football through the dirt. In short, your fans, on occasion, act disgracefully.

On a related point, I wonder how much favour Scottish football fans hold in Russia following the stabbing of a Zenit St. Petersburg fan last night? It has been reported that a number of Rangers fans have been spoken to by the police following the incident.

I should say that the players of your club and, in particular, your manager, conducted themselves excellently last night and were a credit to you. Your fans were not.

I hope that your club are severely punished not only by UEFA but by the SFA for the severe reputational damage that you have caused to Scottish football.

I would like to hear your views on the above.

as most rangers fan wish to be classed as british anyway i think all reference to scottish fans should be replaced by british as this is what they would prefer to be known as, and hopefully restore scotlands good name!!
