All DJ boxes should come like this as standard. :-)

Part and pacel of playing out Im afraid. Mixers at least 50% of the time you play out will be broken in some way in my experience, especially when you are starting out. Hence my point about about a seperate area to keep drinks away from the DJ console.

Fair enough m8. i will retract my statements about pioneer mixers until i try a new one that hasnt been shagged. my m8 was playing a couple of weeks ago on an allen & heath and that was pretty fukd too. he couldnt cue up on one of the channels so had to mix without the headphones. plus he kept getting electric shocks from one of the decks lol.

A good quality(changable to spec) set up. Stay away form shitty install mixers like the sound craft things. Have A DJM800, or and Allen and Heath Xone 92(or both that can be changed about if budget allows)

2x Technics 1210s, 2x CDJ 1000Mk2/3.

Definitely.

Two high quality Monitor speakers(none of the self amped pish, MArtin Audio Blackline, Funktion 1

extra equipment needs to go in for live acts or DJs who play off laptops or with additional FX units etc.

If the DJM is your mixer of choice, then upgrade the the 800. Your club deserves it :-p

Not gonna upgrade unless I have to , I have a perfectley good mixer so wanna use the money elsewhere , I have an entire club to sort with my budget

The 800 will be a lot easier on your Soundsystem than the 600 is, when the 600 is pushed into the red (as it usually is) it sounds terrible. Farts like funk in the PA.... 800 doesnt with anywhere near the same degree as the 600, well not that Ive heard so far anyhoo.

Simple answer to that is dont push it into the red and the sound system wont fart?

Once I get a few new drivers in the speakers and get my amps all serviced there will be no need to go into the red .

At the end of the day its about quality of sound not volume

exactly and as pointed out by gio the DJM600 sound reproduction is shite!! DJM800 all the way! ive only used one other kind of mixer out and that was an Allan & Heath which i defo wasnt impressed with

The difference aint worth £1000 and sticking my 600 in storage , More to refurbing a club than just DJ eqpt and Sound

The 600 Will do , I would love to upgrade all my sound eqpt but not essentials as they are all in working order

If Ive got a little cash left Im gonna invest in more lighting and a new DMX controller and maybe a projector

Rather than going for "it will do" could you not maybe break the mould and make the place a bit special though? (not being specific about the mixer here btw)

I understand people need to be realistic when running a business, but when you look at clubs in this country in comparison to the continent it just seems like there is just a lack of effort here.

You should take a wee trip to Germany and have a look at some of the club venues over there. I feel you may be inspired.. :-)

luxury items???

without good sound there is no point in going to a club! The mixer is a fundamental part of this.

Have a swatch at these videos there in german but you can get an idea of the difference in scale of what we do here and they do on the continent.

your input to this discussion is spot on buddy,
methinks housescotty should just personally
fasttrack you to the designers and leave you
both to it!!!!

Fair play. But the DJM800 comes on pretty much most DJ's ryders now. It's near a new industry standard. I'd sell the 600 and invest. :)

All but one of the djs we have booked this year have asked for one.

To be fair, they are wicked.

Simple answer to that is dont push it into the red and the sound system wont fart?

That is a simple answer, but not realistic imo. Djs in my experience push it..... In the ideal world it wouldnt have to be pushed if the sound systems in Edinburgh were what they could be......
