We thought it would be a good idea to give young Alfie good grilling before heading back up to rock our birthday celebrations in May, anybody who has been living under a rock for the past 4 years and doesnt know anything about this young superproducer heres a brief Biog for ya
Now firmly established as one of the most respected and biggest selling artists in the world of Hard Dance, Technikal (aka Alf Bamford) has kept up the blistering form that first got him noticed, with a slew of classic productions over the last year. Never one to rest on his laurels, he has pushed his immense production skills further by successfully producing acclaimed Hardcore tracks alongside his unique brand of Hard Dance, as well as producing Electro and Psy-Trance-tinged material. Keen to show he is no one-trick-pony, this young star continues to test his skills to the limits.
Technikal first found his passion for dance music as a young teenager, and was inspired by his older brother to take up music production. Producing from the age of thirteen, he got his first track signed at the age of seventeen - and has gone on to sell hundreds of thousands of records across the globe. Since being discovered by HeatUK’s Spencer Freeland and Marc French in 2004, Technikal has made a truly meteoric through the Hard Dance scene, working with the likes of Phil Reynolds, Steve Hill, Rob Tissera....the list goes on and on. He has earned the respect of his peers and is consistently cited as one of the most talented and innovative producers around.
It’s unheard of for someone so young to conquer a dance music scene in such a short time, but Technikal’s production prowess is too mighty for the outcome to be anything less than this. Now fully in his stride, this young prodigy sets the pace for the Hard Dance scene.
Enough of the blurb now onto the questions....
1) You have collaborated with nearly every producer I the harddance scene, who are your favorite producers to work with and who would you like to work with in the future that you havnt already?
There aren't many people left who I haven't worked with! I have a
studio date penciled in with Andy Farley and I've never worked with Andy
before so I'm really looking forward to seeing how that one will turn
out. I'd also love to do a track with Paul Maddox, and we've got two
tracks to get stuck into this year - one for his forthcoming EP and one
for my new project. My favourite person I work with is Phil York. Is
that OK? Hahahaha! And also add Steve Hill, MDA & Spherical, Amber D,
and Rob Tissera to that list, we always seem to come up with the goods!
2) I’ve heard a rumor that you are working on a new album over the coming months featuring some exciting collaboration’s can u tell me more about it?
Yes I can! The project name is still being finalised 100% but the
premise is all about collaborations and inspirations. It's basically a
CD's worth of tracks, with me teaming up with everybody that's inspired
me or that I've looked up to in the hard dance scene. I've booked 3
months to work on this album with everybody and there are some big names
involved... I'm really excited about the project and can't wait to get
stuck into it.
3) You were up for us last back in September alongside Marco V, how do you think the Scottish crowd differs from the English crowds
I didn't really notice anything too much different between the
Scottish crowds and English crowds, especially in Edinburgh. All I know
is that last time I did play for you guys they seemed like they were
having a great time and really enjoying the music.
4) You run the highly successful Technikal recordings can u fill me in on what u have planned for the label in 2008?
Since Technikal Recording's inception, we've been hitting the stores
solidly with one track a month, and we've really managed to grab
people's attention! It's definately a contender for the biggest selling
digital hard trance label around at the moment, so we've cemented (and
then some) what we set out to achieve for the first ten releases. We're
up to TR010 now, and now that we've been hitting it hard with one a
month, we're going to slow down the releases just slightly. This is
because I am the main provider for material on the label and will be
concentrating 100% of my efforts into my album very shortly. However
once that is written we'll be back to one a month. We have some
incredibly awesome stuff lined up, and one track in particular I think
is going to be the biggest yet on the label but I'll keep that a secret
for the minute! We're also planning on releasing the mix compilation
'Konception' which is a journey through the first ten releases on the
label. That should be out in the Summer.
5) If Jason Cortez was a slice of cheese what variety would he be and what would he taste like?
Knob cheese, and he'd taste very rich and mature! *choke*
6) Have you have anything special lined up for us being its our 7th birthday?
I sure have, but you'll just have to wait and see what that might be
;) See you on the birthday!
Thanks Alf will see you on the 9th May @ Ego!
