Lisa Lashes the world no 1 female dj returns to Nuklearpuppy on Friday 5th September after over 16 months since her last visit to the Capital. We caught up with Lisa before her return to puppy to ask her about Scottish clubbing , her future production plans and some good old fashioned mocking Cortez banter! Splendid!

Its been over a year since you were last up to play for us at our 6th birthday celebration, the Scottish crowd really warm to you how do u think its different playing in Scotland compared to England?

As you say, I don’t play in Scotland very often so i always get an
amazing response from the crowd and the Nuklear Puppy crowd are no
exception. Just hope I don’t have to wear my wetsuit and waterproof
mascara this time after some idiot threw a pint of beer over the decks
whilst i was playing.. Really looking forward to it though and cant
wait to see the new refurbished club.

There are so many young producers coming through the ranks of late who is your pick of the bunch from the nu breed?

Im really loving the sound of Jon O'callaghan at the minute..

Last year you were voted the no 1 female dj in the dj mag top 100, how do u think this has affected your career and what other aspirations do you have for the future?

Its been a great year for me this year as I’ve played a lot of clubs
worldwide that I hadn't played before which I think is down to the
Number 1 female position which I’m very grateful for. It would be
great to keep it that way but also it would be good to see other
females djs this year being acknowledged.

I’ve heard a rumour you are going to doing a cameo appearance in a movie soon is this true???

I’ve had a script com through for a Brit Flick Horror movie where i
will play a DJ called Lilly may. Its in the first stages and I know
how long these things take so keeping my fingers crossed it will go
ahead. I’ve also been asked to do the music to the film with Malcolm
Maclaran which would be amazing.

Your label Lashed Music has been toping all the sales charts
recently, what have you got planned for this label over the coming months?

Ive got "Zipp it" coming out at the end of August, the 5th release after
that which is a track with BK called "has it come to this" with a Phil
York and DarkByDesign remix. Myself and Anne Savage will be releasing 2
tracks for LL6 and then "maxwell" a hard house stomper after that.

You have collaborated with a lot of artists over the last few months including BK, Technikal & Anne Savage who would you like to work with in the studio in the future?

Would like to maybe do a track with Jon O callaghan .. Hint hint...

If Jason Cortez was an animal, what kind would he be?

I only ever see him out at night so I would say an OWL, he also does a
party trick of being able to rotate his head 360degrees which i find
fascinating.. I was also out with him at Judgment in Ibiza recently
and he drank like a FISH so maybe we could make up a new breed of
animal called a FOWL..
