Get ready to show your love for all things Fantazia on Saturday 14th February as we kick off 2009’s first big event of the year. The Fantazia Valentines Spectacular is without doubt going to be our biggest and best event yet as we bring some of the leading authorities in clubland to Braehead Arena. Whether you want to fool around with Fantazia, make a move on Masters of Hardcore, kiss Kiddfectious or get it on with GB Xperience, there’s something to keep every romantic ravers senses tingling! The Fantazia Valentines Spectacular is jam packed with treats, with 2 UK exclusives in the bag plus 7 live acts and 42 DJs, there’s only one way for you to spend Valentines Day in 2009!
The huge 5,000 capacity main arena is once again being hosted by event legends Fantazia. As Fantazia enters its 18th year of events, things keep getting better & better as Scotland shows that the thirst for hardcore events shows no sign of letting up. As usual, Fantazia brings nothing but the cream of the crop to Glasgow and this time is certainly no exception. Headlining the arena are the act responsible for a tune that has earned the title ‘anthem’, not once – but twice! Guru Josh first released ‘Infinity’ in 1989 and achieved success all over Europe, but when DJ Klaas remixed the hit for 2008, it became the biggest selling dance track of the year. Expect everybody’s arms in the air as the saxophone hook blasts through the speakers and induces smiles all round. Lasgo will also be making their first ever Scottish appearance in years as they belt out hits such as ‘Something’ and ‘Alone’, we know that you can remember all the words! Other live acts on the night include Angie Brown (Bizarre Inc), Mental Theo’s Bazzheadz, The Rhythmic State and Chill FM. With all these live acts, you can bet that your feet won’t stop dancing all night.
If the live acts aren’t enough to keep you entertained in the Main Arena, then there’s a selection of the scenes best DJs. Top of the list are 2 DJs who set the world of dance music alight and they have kept the fire burning with both their productions and worldwide DJ sets. Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo are 2 of Holland’s finest exports, between them they have sold over 3,000,000 singles and played at some of the worlds most infamous shows. You can guarantee that the crowd at Braehead will make sure this a gig to remember! The first exclusive of the event comes in the form of Joe Inferno, the man who produced the hardcore anthem ‘Tribal Church’ will make his first ever UK appearance at Fantazia. It’s hard to believe that since the release of the track in 1992, Joe has never played a gig on our wonderful shores, so we’re very proud that Joe has chosen our event to make his long awaited debut. He couldn’t have picked a better show! Of course the UK is represented thick and fast in the main arena with sets from man of the moment Darren Styles plus Slipmatt, Breeze, Bass Generator and Altern-8. Fantazia in Scotland wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t give you some Scottish legends; this event has them in the form of ‘the amazing multitasking man’ Mallorca Lee plus all round nice guy Marc Smith. The DJ line up is completed by Technotrance and Mark McLaughlan, who would keep the party going all night long if they could. Of course the party wouldn’t be a party without the best MCs in the land. Charlie B, Loco, Madman and Korrupt are the men in charge of keeping the rhymes flowing and the happiness growing. There are a few surprises in store this time in the main arena, so keep your eyes peeled for some madness we’ll be throwing your way.
Arena 2 is hosting a brand that is synonymous with Dutch hardcore around the world – Masters of Hardcore. The introduction of this brand is the second exclusive of the event as Fantazia Valentines Spectacular is the first time that this super brand will host an arena at a UK event. Ask any dance music fan what the best hardcore label is and you can bet that 99.9% of them will say Masters of Hardcore. Launched in 1996 in a time where it seemed that hardcore was on its way out, MOH created something that has become the leading authority in the scene. Their events in Holland are sell-outs within hours and they bring you not only great music, but a great experience as they encompass all elements of the hardcore way of life. People travel from all over the world to witness the shows that MOH bring but this February people from the UK need look no further than Glasgow. Complete with full MOH décor, they of course bring with them their finest artists from the brand. Angerfist will be there doing their amazing live show, plus sets from Outlblast, Tommyknocker, Maddog, Predator and Tomcat & Rudeboy, making this one of the most desirable line ups in the UK. One of the labels biggest fans will be making his MOH debut as Kutski gears up for the night of his life, Brisk and Obsession will also be doing their hardcore thing, it wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t show the Dutch that we can rip it up just as well as them! This arena will also be supported by an amazing Funktion One sound system, guaranteed to blow your dancing socks right off. Masters of Hardcore is the biggest thing to hit Fantazia in years; this is something you don’t want to miss out on!
Arena 3 is set to be infected as newcomer to the scene Kiddfectious host their first ever arena at an event in the UK, yet another cheeky exclusive for you! Kiddfectious has only recently celebrated its 1st birthday, but the man behind the magic, Alex Kidd, has been on the scene for years. Consistently ranked high in the hard dance DJ polls, Alex Kidd is one of the most energetic men in the industry. It’s with this enthusiasm that he created the label, and now clubbing brand, Kiddfectious. Having built up a strong fan base and following whether through his individual DJ sets or award winning mini-festival ‘Kiddstock’, this guy knows what he’s talking about when it comes to hard dance. Considering Kiddfectious is only a year old, the buzz surrounding this brand has been simply phenomenal, so it was only a matter of time before they hosted their own arena and where better to do that than at Fantazia. Headlining the arena is Italy’s number one hardstyle DJ, Technoboy. Having performed at Coloursfest in 2007 to a rapturous crowd, he’s back for another slice of the action. Alex Kidd will of course be getting behind the decks to get both himself and the crowd covered in sweat as the bpms ensure that there’s nothing to do but dance. German DJ and producer A*S*Y*S plus Mark EG, Organ Donors and Dark By Design are also on the bill to keep the infection spreading throughout the night. Kiddfectious will be in association with Notorious White, so not only do you get Alex Kidd’s brainchild, you’ve got Marc Smith’s too. Marc will be playing with his partner Jay M, together they are known as Force 9, a force to be reckoned with. Completing the bill is the youngest DJ of the event, Kidd Kaos, expect nothing but full throttle energy as this guy bounces into action. If you want to be there when a change is made in hard dance history, then the Kiddfectious arena is the only place to be at Fantazia.
Arena 4 will be transformed into the GB Xperience Arena for the evening as radio star George Bowie brings club & rave classics to the mix with his selection of the best DJs of the Scottish club scene. Ask any clubber in Glasgow what they listened to as they prepared for their weekend adventures and you can be rest assured that George Bowie’s GB Xperience show was the kick-start to their shenanigans. As one of the most influential radio hosts in Scotland, George Bowie has firmly cemented himself as a legend on the scene. After an amazing reception to his arena at Fantazia ‘Heroes 3D’, the GB Xperience Arena is back representing all that is great about home grown talent. He has hand selected the DJs for his arena, so we can be assured that there’s going to be no lack of talent here. George will headline, playing some of the club and rave tunes that will throw back all the memories to the ‘good old days’. Stevie Kerr, Joe Deacon, Mack & Gee, DJ Lovejoy, Neil Davidson, Martin Langer, Art Newman and Paul D are the specially selected spinsters set to keep you raving all night long.
So, that sums up pretty much all you need to know about Fantazia Valentines Spectacular. This is shaping up to be one of the events of 2009, arguably the best line up that Scotland and the UK has seen for years; there really isn’t a good enough reason to miss out! The DJs will be there, the stage will be set, all that’s needed is an amazing crowd – that’s where you come in……..
