Despite their HUGE following in Scotland’s largest city, it has been about 18 months since the Twisted & Brainfire crew have held a really big party in their hometown of Glasvegas (that’s Glasgow to everyone else). This has not been down to demand tho’, as their monthly Reactor parties and other nights like Infexious and Darkside have sold out month in month out with few exceptions.

Promoters, Al Twisted & Rob Da Rhythm, explain, “it’s just been down to one thing and that’s the lack of suitable venues available for a larger rave in the Glasgow area". Rob says, "We have looked at a phenomenal amount of venues and this is not only the one which ticked all the boxes, but it is bloody perfect". Al goes on to say, "it was important to find a new venue which T&B can call its own".

The Queens Margaret Union, or QMU, is in fact the student union of Glasgow
University (which means dirt cheap drinks prices!). The venue has been open in its its current form for over 40 years, and although it hasn’t held a Hardcore night
yet, it has seen a large variety of music events, from well known rock bands to dance nights, including Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Queen, Fratellis, Roni Size, Cream, Mr. Scruff, Ministry of Sound, Soulwax and more.

With the venue in place and a date set, Saturday 25 April, Twisted & Brainfire haven’t wasted any time in getting the UK's biggest Hardcore promoters, Hardcore Heaven, on board for the first event in their new venue. The party will see the Hardcore Heaven concept north of the border for the first time. This will act as the official Scottish launch for their massive annual ‘Hardcore Weekender’, which is now in its fifth year at Pontins, Southport, and is also where T&B this year are hosting a Darkside (Gabber) arena on the Friday (massive line-up includes Tha Playah (Nl) vs Scott Brown, Dione (Nl), Lunatic & Miss Hysteria (Nl), Scorpio and much more).
Al tells us, "we are really excited to be involved in this year’s Weekender, and this is the ideal warm up". For more info and full line-up, check www.slamminvinyl.com. The weekender runs from Friday 15 May to Sunday 17 May.

Joey Riot & Kurt
2/3s of Lethal Theory

Scott Brown & Dougal

MC Enemy

So let’s go back to the Scottish event in question. What makes Twisted & Brainfire parties so awesome is their fantastic line-up, and this one is no different. The main room in the QMU holds 900+ and boasts a lovely, loud and clear sound system. This arena is hosted by Hardcore Heaven vs. Reactor. Expect upfront UK Hardcore with a splashing of Hardstyle and Oldskool. No expense has been spared. Headline DJs includes Scotland’s finest, Mr. Scott Brown, who always goes down well at T&B and Essential Platinum’s Dougal, who doesn’t play up here often. The Lethal Theory crew members, Joey Riot, Kurt and MC Enemy, are in the house, as is MC Wotsee. Keeping things diverse, Hardstyle beats are provided by Geordie legend, Bass Generator and Scottish exports Force 9 (aka Marc Smith & Jay-M).

The Masochist (NL) - Making his UK Debut

Smurf

The second arena has a capacity of over 450 and is dedicated to the harder sounds of Gabber and Hardcore Techno. This room is hosted by Hardcore Heaven X-treme, T&B’s harder brand, Darkside, and also the popular underground Hardcore Techno crew; Impact. While the room may be a bit smaller, the line-up certainly isn’t. Making his UK debut is Dutch Hardcore legend, The Masochist, from the Masters Of Hardcore organization. The Masochist (who is also known in the Hardstyle scene as The Prophet) has been responsible for countless big tunes in the history of Dutch Hardcore, but surprisingly he hasn’t played in the UK before. This is a regular feature of T&B events – exclusive UK debuts!
And while we’re on the subject of exclusivity, also from Holland is a set from Dutch icons, Dr.Z Vago vs. Negative-A of Megarave/DNA Records.

Rob Da Rhythm

Joining the Dutch boys is Scotland’s own Scott Brown playing a tougher set back-to-back with Rob Da Rhythm, Fracture-4 (Genosha Records) T&B’s Al Twisted and Geordie nutters, Smurf (GGM) and Lost Origin (KNOR / Industrial Strength).

All in all, I predict this will be the event of the year in Scotland. No real raver will want to miss this. You just have to look at the line up to know you don’t want to be left out!

In a credit crunching move from T&B, Tickets are only £17. These are available from
