"JOSH ROBERTS" - (M.O.S/Hed Kandi)

Joshua Roberts is without doubt one of the most exciting and energetic young DJ’s on the circuit. Soon after he started mixing at just 11 years old he was already being recognized for both his mixing ability and his capability to move the crowd. At the age of 15 he had already appeared on his regions top radio station (Kiss) and at the age of 17 he became a national champion, winning the BBC Radio 1 & UKCC National Young DJ Search; a nationwide competition for 14 – 17 year olds to showcase their mixing talents. After a summer touring the UK, he was asked to play the opening set at Radio 1’s One Big Weekend in Birmingham, where he performed an unforgettable set in front of over 4,000 party go-ers, setting the mood with some of the biggest names in the dance music industry.

Already at 21 years of age Josh has played right across the globe, making him one of the most well traveled DJ’s for his age. He has also appeared on BBC1, MTV Dance and been featured in DJ Magazine. After spending last summer rocking some of the coolest parties @ the Ministry of Sound beach club & the world’s first Hed Kandi Beach bar out in the Red Sea, Josh was asked to join forces with legendary clubbing super brands Ministry of Sound & Hed Kandi as a resident for some of their top UK & worldwide dates. “I see this is a great opportunity to take my sound & style of play to a worldwide audience” beams Josh. He also looks forward to continuing his residency with BBC Radio 1 superstars ‘The Cut up boys’, keeping their nationwide tour well and truly rocking!

Josh is renowned for his fresh and creative style of play, and best describes his style as “Funky, Uplifting, Dirty and Delightful”. His energetic and charismatic presence behind the decks is something which has been noticed across the board, not to mention his unpredictable, exciting approach to mixing and phenomenal technical ability. “I love being creative with my tunes. Funky Toast has been a DJ in East Anglia since 1996. This has given him a remarkable overview of Dance Music as he has progressed from a Hard House and Trance DJ and matured into a House music maestro, able to use all the technical skills at his disposal in order to create sublime mixes of funky, vocal, uplifting house

The success of Love-Bug has lead to Toast gaining further notoriety on the scene. He has now played Thames Boat parties and is regularly booked for his talents in London, Ibiza, Malta and the occasional festival or Soul Village weekender. Sets at Turnmills, seOne, Honey Club, Brixton Jamm, Whitehouse for labels like the hot and upcoming Kidology and well established Smartie Partie & Raindance. Such experience has lead to him becoming a consistent artist of cutting and blending both vinyl and CDJ’s. Some say anyone can mix on 2 CDJs these days. “If you can’t do it with vinyl, you’re not a real DJ” Toast assures us. “It’s the old skool, its how the scene developed and started.” He puts his money where his mouth is with mixing skills on up to four decks, and that’s vinyl for the record, excuse the pun.

Josh continues to make waves in the East of Englands urban music scene and is definately a DJ to watch out for around these parts!!!
