Music : All Music
This is a daytime event (e.g. starts late morning or early afternoon - see below for times).
THE STORY.. Held in the outstanding natural beauty of the Lake District, Kendal Calling is a wholly independent festival and the best reason you will get to visit the gateway to the lakes this summer. Holding to country ethics of good times without the packaging expect prices without the corporate mark-up and an atmosphere exempt of the mass media culture vulture currently smothering good honest music. Fields, fresh air, blue blue skies, happy faces and the occasional cow pat! are to be expected and revelled in. The small independent team behind the festival have assured that this year you will be able to enjoy some of the leading acts in the country alongside some of the best Cumbrian crop ever harvested! Now entering its second year Kendal Calling remains strong to its roots and start up goal, to naturally evolve a festival showcasing the original talent of the Lakes area alongside the cream of the national crop, to put Kendal on the map for more than Mint Cake and have one hell of an annual party on home soil. Don't miss your chance to experience the Big Top marquees, festival frolics, camping in true country style, comedians in a yurt, goats ice cream and all the music you can fill your wellies with! Be there for Kendal Calling 2007 and watch the evolution unfold! Having been a working farm for hundreds of years, this will be the farms first foray into the festival spirit.. let's show it a good un aye? Grate Farm is just off the A591 dual carriageway slip-road, south Kendal Junction - approx 2 minutes from Kendal Centre, or a £4 taxi ride. Speaking of taxis, we've teamed up with Blue Star cabs to offer you 4, 6, 8 and 16 person taxis at a special festival price- so we recommend giving them a call on 01539 723670. Car parking on site is free and we like to encourage car pooling as much as possible. Due to the location of the event we strongly discourage walking.
