Dj/Producer
Paul Glazby is a name who needs no introduction to hard house fans. Founder of the Vicious Circle label empire, Paul has taken his uncompromising, hard as nails sounds from humble beginnings as Insomniacz resident DJ in Sheffield, to festival headlining, globe-trotting DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ status in record quick time.
Paul’s production skills and set programming are second to none in hard house, enabling him to rock dancefloors with the kind of roof-raising, raw and uncompromising energy that many DJs try to emulate yet fail to achieve His DJ sets and studio productions have cut out a unique and hugely popular sound at the harder end of the dance market, with Paul and his Vicious Circle label having a cult like status having scooped numerous industry awards in recent years, including ‘Best Single’, ‘Best Remixer’ and ‘Best Album’.
His closing sets at Insomniacz and the Tidy Weekender events are the stuff of club legend, and he’s consistently one of the most in demand DJs on the circuit, headlining the likes of Frantic, Sundissential, Goodgreef, Polysexual, Dance Academy and Storm, as well as festival appearances at Creamfields and Global Gathering in the UK, Dance Valley in Holland, and events in Ibiza, Finland, Norway, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and Australia, where he regularly headlines the massive Enchanted Forest outdoor events.
One of Paul’s first releases, a cover of the classic Qwench ‘Dreams’, was licensed onto the official Sony/Virgin Records release and shot into the Top 30 of the official UK sales charts, and subsequent underground anthems have never been far away, including ‘Beautiful’, ‘Motherf**ker’ and ‘Hostile’, and further big remixes such as ‘Annihilation’ on Tidy, ‘Eternal’ on Nukleuz and ‘Hellfire’ on Tripoli Trax to name but a few. Paul’s studio skills and ability to turn out consistently high quality have made him the most in-demand hard house producer around today, with over 50 remixes to his name in the past few years.
Summer 2005 has seen the next chapter in Paul’s Vicious Circle album series released, with ‘I Love VC’ pushing the boundaries set by previous groundbreaking albums ‘One From The Hardbox’ and ‘Vicious’. The launch of the official 'I Love VC' events at the Fridge in London in July ended up being a 1,500 sell out, and the accompanying album tour has taken the ‘I Love VC’ sound to the masses this autumn around the UK and Europe. Paul is finishing the year with the conclusion of his 'Ten Commandments' series, no fewer than 10 consecutive releases on Vicious Circle with Paul starring as artist or remixer on each, taking the label through to its landmark 50th release at the end of the year, while also releasing a mix on the 'Hard Dance Republic 2' CD and festival appearances in Australia and New Zealand.
