The Mixmag Uk Tour is coming to Leeds on Saturday 3rd October amongst the headline acts is Bigger Than Jesus the Duo from Newcastle who are making lots of noise in the techno scene we caught up with the boys to get the low down on their Bigger Than Jesus act...

1) Hi guys how are you and what are you doing right now?

Yes very well thank you! Hope you are too. We are currently setting up
and signing loads of new artists and tracks for our new ‘We Are
Genius’ record label which is exciting territory for us. Our first
release on the label due out in October is by Matador and is called
‘Scaramanga’ along with our remix and Kristina from Italo Business on
board. This is already gaining big support from Hawtin and the like.

Just had our Ze kids Want Techno track out on Italo Business which is
currently doing nicely in the beatport top 100 charts. Leeds’s Audio
Jack and also Dandi & Ugo are on remix duties which are fookin quality
to be fair and also got our Check Point Charlie track out the end of
this month. Production wise we are firing on all cylinders and we are
ensuring everything is in place to keep our momentum continuing in the
right direction!

Gigs are flying in from around Europe now so all is well and all is good!

2) Why the name Bigger Than Jesus?

We were after a name that stood out from the rest and was also free
from any clichés so Bigger Than Jesus fitted the bill perfectly

Also I think there come a point in your life when you work out the
notion of religion is just a conceptual idea which part a very very
clever propaganda machine created all those years ago to control the
rabble. Fair play to them, hats off indeed as Jesus was one of the
first celebrities to be created by the media. However I’m not too sure
if he could walk on water and the rest, perhaps he had been talking to
Derren Brown whilst taking strong hallucinogenics?

3) You have been releasing music on a few different labels including
Excentric, Silver Planet, Tic Tac Toe and more recently on Italo
Business & 54Music, is there any chance of an album soon?

Yeah we’ve got the first and the last track sorted for our album so
just a case of piecing the middle bits together! Something should
materialise over the next few months all being well!

4) What brought you guys together to become Bigger Than Jesus?

Purely divine intervention and the fine work of our lord.

5) What are listening to on your iPods right now?

The new ‘Sleaze’ Records compilation 2 sent by Hans Bouffmyhre, every
track is mint and worth checking out if you’re into your techno.

6) How would describe your sound?

Fuckin mint.

7) What can we expect from your performance at Kerbcrawler for the
Mixmag Tour Party?

Some of our best ever gigs have been with Ketoloco.... actually I cant
bleedin wait to play Kerbkrawler again with Ketoloco. They are a
proper great bunch of lads and a fantastic set of DJ’s I have a
feeling this is gonna go mental!
