System presents... Cocoon
Mint Club – November 7th
Raresh, Livio & Robi, Jamie Anderson

The bespoke confines of future disco-box Mint Club is brought to life by flagship night System again this month, with Cocoon contingent Raresh, Livio & Robi and Jamie Anderson headlining. Fresh from a nonsense free birthday carry-on with Kompakt, and after a road block autumn season opener with Steve Bug and Shinedoe last month, things turn altogether techier as the cold sets in this November.

Spearheading the audio assault – and it will be an assault when Mint’s pin-point Funktion-One is involved – is Romanian Raresh. Snapped up in 2007 by Sven Vath’s Cocoon label (the same year he tore apart the Love Parade with his liquid minimal and unsettling soundscapes) Raresh has been a scene mainstay ever since. His exuberant blends of house and techno always lock floors like Rex (Paris) Monza (German) and Fabric (London) into his groove, whilst he also finds time to run top label [a:rpia:r] with Rhadoo and Pedro.

Two more Cocoon Romanians are Livio & Robi who’ve been making deep and techy house, alongside smooth Detroit techno for three years on labels like Cécille, Desolat and VIVA. They came to the forefront last year after playing alongside Loco Dice. He was so in awe of the intricacies and talents on show in the pair’s mixing, that he got them to join the prestigious Artist Alife family. Impressive sets across the globe and new fans worldwide have followed, so Livio & Roby seem perfect guests for quality electronica freaks System.

Production wizard Jamie Anderson wraps things up. His unrelentingly simple yet ridiculously complex releases range from peak-time minimal monsters on Rekkids, to funkier, housier stuff for labels like 100% Pure and NRK as well as, of course, Cocoon. If he’s good enough for one of the world’s best clubs, Berghain/Panorama Bar, he’s good enough for one of this country’s best.

A night at Mint is a night amongst like minded people at a club with simply a perfect soundsystem. It’s a night where you connect with the music not only through the sharp sonics, but through its intensity as augmented with rushes of cold air in your face and glows of the LED stuffed disco panel above your head. It’s a night of futurism from the sounds to the setting – it’s a night of underground fun.
