EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MORGAN & THE TIDY DJ'S AHEAD OF THEIR PERFORMANCE @ THE "WILD" LAUNCH PARTY

Now then boys… How’s life treating you all?

M – Easy now, all good thanks.

T.DJ's - Life’s good thank you.

How has 2008 been for you so far in respect of new productions and ventures within the industry?

M – 2008 has been about playing big events in main rooms with prime time sets. I used to do a lot of warm up sets; going on at a later times at big events gives me the chance to showcase my own, much harder, pumping sound, which I’m loving at the moment.

T.DJ's - It’s been going really well, I think we’ve only had 2 weekends off since the New Year. Just how we like it. We are really looking forward to the summer as we have got some wicked stuffed planned.

Morgan… coming second in the category of “Best New Face at the Hard Dance Awards” is a fantastic achievement… What are your goals for the rest of 2008 and beyond?

M - Thank You. In the months leading up to the event, I worked really hard towards the “Best New Face” award, so to see all the hard work pay off was a massive thing for me in my career. My main goal this year is to concentrate on the production side of things. This year alone, I have confirmed tracks going on Album’s including; ‘Music for a harder generation’, Tidy’s ‘Thrashed’ and also Featuring in the ‘Hard Dance Awards 08’ Album. I am putting a lot of energy in to my future new label ‘FuMo Records’ which will be out this year. At the moment I’m working on getting the tracks perfected, and the promotion/distribution sorted and ready to go. I’ll also be doing a remix for ‘Fireball’ soon as well as having an exciting new ‘Tidy’ Project in the pipe line. I’m really looking forward to when everything gets released. There’s also going to be a massive launch party for FuMo Records in a secret location, along with a new event concept in the near future.

After the “Electric” atmosphere that was created by your performance together at the Hard Dance awards… what are you feelings on headlining as a Trio at the “Wild” Launch Party?

M – I like it we get all sweaty together. Deano and Sam rub each other between mixes it must be some sort of Tidy thing??

T.DJ's - Pipe down lad, your only jealous cos you’ve got to rub yourself.

What Sort of set are we going to get?

M –
An electric mix of Country and Bangra from me.

T.DJ's – An uplifting mix of hardcore jazz with a little bit of crimping chucked in.

The latest “Rave on the River” event on Leeds canal sold out in an astonishing 4 days...what are your feelings on the event as a whole?

T.DJ's – Rave on the river was amazing, none of us realised how popular it was going to be. The event rocked from start to finish, the music was spot on, and everyone had made a real effort getting dressed up. Plenty of fun was had by all.

M –
Thought the lads did a wicked job, the event selling out so quickly is a sign that hard dance is on the rise. And the party rocked!

Are there going to be more “Rave on the River” events in the future?

T.DJ's – Now that would be telling, we have got some stuff planned but you’ll have to keep an eye on our DSI group for more details. www.dontstayin.com/groups/tidydjs

All of you are set to play at Creamfields 2008, which is a monster of a gig… how do you feel about it and what other biggies do you have lined up?

M – I can’t wait; it will defiantly be a gig to remember. Already this year I’ve been to Fantasy Lands festival in Scotland with the lads, and had a wicked time up there; the crowd were electric. Also, another poignant memory of this year was playing The Coach in Belfast, A wicked night!
Last weekend, I played Goodgreef @ Victoria works in Leeds…This was one of the highlights of my career; playing to a massive 1000+ crowd…the atmosphere was amazing. Coming up this month, is Goodgreef’s next warehouse party at the Warehouse Project (underneath Piccadilly Station) in Manchester on the 25th again b2b with the lads. On the same night, I am also playing the main room at the Ministry Of Sound in London for Awsum Vs Kiddfectious… I’m really looking forward to that one too. Other biggie's lined up for this year include: Kiddfectious, Kiddstock, Tidy Leeds and Ibiza all of which I’m sure are going to be wicked!

T.DJ's - Creamfields is going to be amazing; it’s got to be the best of the big festivals… to be playing there is going to be something else.
We have got busy times ahead of us. A few of the highlights coming up over next few months are Goodgreef’s Warehouse Party, Sundissential North’s 10th Birthday, Storm, Tidy Ibiza, Slinky Leeds, Tidy Leeds, Coloursfest in Scotland, and headlining the Wild Launch Party alongside Morgan.

What tunes are getting you all excited at the moment?

M –
Some phat new tunes floating about at the moment; I’m loving Techinikal’s ‘Supersonic’, and Paul Maddox’s ‘Mesmerised’. My two new tracks ‘Take you back’ , and ‘Unstoppable’ have been ripping up the dance floor, these will be FuMo records 1st release along with a thundering Ben Steven’s Remix on the B-Side. The Tidy Boys Remix of ‘Till The House Gets Warm” has been getting a dust off recently and that’s been going down a treat as well.

T.DJ's – Loads of good tackle about at the moment; our remix of the new Kym Ayres track ‘Take it Easy’ has been going down a storm, a new collaboration by the better looking half of the Tidy DJ’s,” Sam Townend” and “BK” called ‘All Night Long’, and… Amber D’s new Tidy Girl EP track ‘Rush On Me’ is doing the biz as well.

Who would you say are your inspirations that are/have been your main influences?

M – To be fair I'd have to say it would be Alex Kidd. Watching how hard he works and the continuing rise of his brands Kiddfectious and Kiddstock festival is inspiring. He pulls off some crazy shit on the cdj1000’s and EFX… well impressive.

T.DJ's – We would have to say our Mum and Dads have been our inspirations. Music wise we take inspiration from anything that’s good really! Right Said Fred will always have a place in our hearts.

Hard dance is changing all the time; DJ’s come and go. What makes you guys different?

M – I reckon its down to persistence and dedication whilst thinking about the scene as a whole, trying to make it better, and looking at the bigger picture. Coming up with new ideas/ brands and constantly pushing things forward. We’ve all been chomping at the bit for ages and it’s only within the last year and a half that things have risen up to that “next level”. It’s all about continuing to climb up the ladder by bringing new inspiration/ideas to the scene.

T.DJ's –
We pay people to give us gigs, money is power!! Seriously though, I think it has a lot to do with having our finger on the pulse. We are both clubbers at heart, so know what makes a dancefloor tick!

You guys must get asked all sorts of questions in interviews…So I thought I would add a little bit of randomness to the next few!

There are always a lot of rumours and urban myth said about artists with a high public profile. What’s the most said untrue thing that has been published about you?

M – I read somewhere that I had a fetish for Terry Nutkins from the "Really Wild Show".

Sam – That I like to drink… I never touch the stuff in reality; "T Total Townend" is my name in the ghettos of Leeds.

Deano –
The word on the street is that I once had a modelling contract with “Woman’s Own” magazine, the truth is… it was with “OK”.

When you are away from it all what normal day to day activities do you do to relax/ occupy your time?

M – Wank over pictures of Terry Nutkins.

Deano – Inventing fruit, my latest creation is a “mel-ange”. It’s a cross with a melon and an orange.

Sam – I like bird watching, my favourite bird is the lesser spotted big breast.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

M – Don’t know really I’m quite happy.

T – Obvious one, but World Peace.

What kind of music do you listen to say when you’re driving, cooking or in the bath?

M – I’ll listen to anything really, but I’m well into The Kings of Leon at the moment… love um. Also, the new Portishead album is mint as well. A bit of minimal and techno as well, the proper twisted shit… love it!

T.DJ's –
To be honest we listen to anything and everything, variety is the spice of life!

What is your most embarrassing moment DJ-wise?

M –
Back in the day I was playing back to back with Sam at ‘Toast”, (Goodgreef’s’ after party) and I was sick in the DJ booth. It must have been something I ate?

T.DJ'S – Being stood next to Morgan whilst he was sick on his shoes, very professional.

From behind the DJ box, what's the funniest thing you've seen a clubber doing?

T.DJ's – We once saw a girl getting jiggy with her hand in-between a lads thighs….we will leave the rest to your imagination!

And finally…tell us all something about yourselves that nobody knows?!

M – I hold the gold medal for being sick at service stations.

Deano – I am a trained cage fighter!

Sam – I was once an extra in the highly popular TV series ‘Heartbeat’.

Thanks a lot for your time guys… and roll on May 30th! Really looking forward to having a “WILD” time and “STOMP” with you all!
