The hype for Leeds latest events space ‘Victoria Works’ is already massive with every forum relating to clubbing witnessing it as one of the most clicked on items. Already two of Leeds biggest clubbing institutions ‘Federation’ and Dirty Disco have claimed this cavernous space as their home on the first and second Saturdays in each month, respectively. The venue will be a Blank Canvas for a host of one off parties, corporate functions, film studios and exhibitions and the owners are promising to keep the dance parties to a very select few making each party a huge event in its own right. Victoria Works is just a five minute walk from The Calls which is without doubt, Leeds most discerning area of bars and clubs that are frequented by the most fashionable people of Leeds as well as the cities visitors. Positioned on the corner of an industrial estate behind Halfords and the former Peugeot dealership (‘MSF’) the venue is also in an ideal position for people commuting from both the M62 and M1. Plans are also in place to run complimentary shuttle buses from Leeds city centre for those that just want to save their energy for the dancefloor. Victoria Works (named after the mechanics body-shop, its previous use) consists of three warehouse style spaces and boasts an overall capacity of 1800 people. The two main arenas hold 800 people each and arena 3 holds 200 people. There is also the huge outside area which will house both the toilets and smoking facilities together with plans for various white knuckle, funfair rides at selected events. The space will be left as an industrial shell with of course the edition of safety essentials, staging, bars and toilets etc so if you expecting comfy seating, carpets and fancy features then think again as this is almost definitely not for you! For dance parties, Victoria Works will house huge sound systems, state of the art lighting affects and multi lasers together with unrivalled décor and production rarely seen outside of London.

The license has been suspended at Leeds club, The Victoria Works. Police feared the venue was not far from 'a drugs fatality'. A police report said: ‘These premises have a history of staging high-risk events which attract customers associated with serious crime and class A drug dealing”. The 2,000 capacity venue is one of Leeds most renowned clubs home to Leeds' biggest clubbing institutions- Federation and Dirty Disco . According to the police the likelihood of drugs or serious injury had been occurring at the club since June 2009 and appeared to be still happening in October 2009 which led to the clubs closure. The management insisted everyone was searched on entering the club. The licence will be reviewed on December 11.
Saturday 7th November sees the UK’s biggest Ibiza Warehouse party and Reunion at Victoria Works Leeds. Before his much anticipated performance in the ‘Judgement Sundays vs Digital Society’ Arena, we caught up with one of the headline acts, Trance legend - Matt Hardwick.
Victoria Works has some of the biggest names in dance music, here is the confirmed line ups to december 09......
Through his work as DJ, Producer, Dancefloor experimentalist, Remixer, Collaborator and label owner, Paul Woolford has succeeded in bringing a rare level of artistry to the world of modern dance music and in doing so, made an enduring global impact. 2009 studio clients include DFA, Environ, Gigolo, Systematic and Mute. His name is synonymous with high-quality.
For almost 5 years at Wax:On we have been booking artists such as 2ManyDJs, Erol Alkan, Justice and Annie Mac, as well as booking artists such as Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos and Lindstrom. It has now got to the stage where we love so many artists and there is so much great music that we have developed a new club brand and record label to run along side Wax:On that will promote and release techno, house, disco and electronica.
