I wish Riff Raff would do a bit of Hardstyle aswell as the other hard genres, dont get me wrong i love a bit of hard techno/trance, but hardstyle is my true love and i just think it would make the event much better and appeal to more people in the hard scene, cheers for listening to the rant!

Lisa spent enough time as a fixture in the Wendy House's Mutate room and a regular at Slimes to have a pretty fair idea about what goth and cybergoth are (and not she can't deny being a goth and have anyone believe her either).

I was added to the topic by a buddy; so naturally I did the same.

I dont care if you dont like Hardstyle.

The point I was making was that Hardstyle is not 100% Evil Demonic Music and that one occasional hour wont ruin the night for people who dislike Hardstyle.

well il be sure to notify you if i see any lynch mobs appearing around the subwoofers next month if any hardstyle gets played! at the end of the day its not gonna kill riff raff to book or play any hardstyle dj or tune, its a marmite style of music, always has, always will, we're still gonna see peeps comin back each month to get more of the same of whats being offered by the guys at Riff Raff. its been going for 9 years now so its safe to say they know what they're doing, and know what peeps want!

I think an hour of *any one thing* would cause problems. Part of Riff Raff's appeal is that it crosses the genres, never dwelling long enough to get boring.

It is a marmite genre of music but to be honest alot of genres are. Besides, my only attention of posting in this thread was too post my two cents about not all hardstyle being evil and posting a few examples to back up my opinion but as people responded so did i...

Anyway, I think this topic has drifted away from the subject at hand long enough lol!!

Well thats really good then!! I like alot of different genres on a night out.

But the responces I got on the first page was that if any hardstyle was played they would never visit the club again as they didnt see a point in going out if the music they played was disliked by them (if that makes sense) - even if it was only a tiny bit.

I said if we all had that attitude no one would go out and then went on to say that the company your with can also change the outlook on the night. Some of the best night ive had were at shit events with shit music but because i was with the best company it made it worthwhile!

Hinting at if half an hour or an hour of hardstyle was to be played surely it wouldnt be that distressing that you would never return to Riff Raff again?

I started going to every Riff Raff, and formerly Cabbage, precisely because I never thought the music bad enough to warrant leaving the dancefloor to socialise. Indeed, I socialise there because I get too tired to dance, not because there's no other option. This is in rank contrast to the goth scene, and exactly why I'm now an ex-goth. After such luxury, I don't want to return to the bad old ways of going out to socialise to shit music, which is precisely why I bitched when Cabbage took a down turn.

I dont go to clubs only to socialise.

Alot of the times you have to drag me away from the dance floor but if there is an hour or so where the music isnt to my taste i dont leave in a huff and refuse to return to the club ever again, I will have a laugh with the company im with and it still ends up being a good night. Which is what the point of my post back on the 2nd page.

Or if a friend of mine wants to go to a certain night and i detest the music i will go as they have asked me. I wont sit and sulk in the corner but i will have fun with them and have a boogie on the dance floor!

Thanks for the weekend - riff raff was ace... i have never caused so much debate by playing a different style of set on saturday.. i still think it funny that the original poster of this thread didnt even know that a wee little bit of hardstyle had been stuck in their..

I often find that any music style played on the same level all night (or all one dj set) to be very boring and doesnt inspire me... mix it up, do something unexpected, keep the energy going...
