GENIX INTERVIEW
------------------------------

With just weeks untill Elusive's 1st birthday party, we interview Passion boss Genix ahead of his appearance behind the decks.
Q.
Hi Genix, the last two years have seen your career progress rapidly, with a string of UK and international appearances. To what do you attribute this success?

A.
I would probably say it's determination. I believe that if you want to achieve something that badly you can do it if you try hard enough. I still have a long way to go but I think I'm on the right path at the minute. I am working hard on building my profile, mainly with my production work.

Q.
Your productions have seen massive success on a variety of labels, including the prestigious Armada. Can you tell us the thoughts that went into Copious Cain, your most recent release?

A.
Well I actually discovered the main melody line while looking through some of my old unfinished projects and thought... this is cool!! Why did i never use it?! So I built a new track around it and did a seperate version with my Genix Re-Rub sound to it. I gave the track to Armin and he loved it, so i signed it over to him. It will also feature in some cool new projects...more details to follow soon ;) My follow up to Copius Cain is already out! Released a week or so ago on Armada; GNX – Gekko / Halfwa Home. Check them out!

Q.
On the production side of things, we hear you are remixing Lange’s new track, and working on follow ups to ‘Genix’ and ‘Gnx’. Can you tell us a bit more about this?

A.
As I just mentioned my new GNX track is out now. I have remixed Lange’s ‘Let It All Out’ track. It's got my sound all over it, and I've had some great requests for it already. It is just doing the rounds with the top jocks at the minute so will be available very soon!

Q.
Let’s talk about Passion. Since JFK’s departure, you have been at the super club’s helm. How’s it going so far?

A.
Passion is going great. I work hard at trying to deliver what is needed. It's a tough job but I see 2010 as being a great year for the brand!

Q.
Any hints on future Passion line-ups? What do you intend to change or do differently?

A.
I can't possibly hint at any line-ups for obvious reasons. However, I want to bring the best possible talent to those famous decks. I also want to work more with new DJ’s and help them out in the scene.

Q.
Where do you think trance music is heading?

A.
Tough one. It's always changing... even my sound isn't really trance anymore, it's a cross between many styles. I think this is just natural progression.

Q.
You actively support up and coming DJ’s through the Nu Passion brand. Why is this important to the scene’s future?

A.
Easy. Because these DJ’s are the future. It is difficult to always deliver the world's best DJ’s, and I feel that if we can build the profile of some up & coming DJ’s, then they will build a following and start filling clubs themselves! There is always room for new DJ’s to break through into the scene.

Q.
As promoters will know, even putting a small night takes a huge amount of work. What makes it worth your while?

I personally love to see a club full of people enjoying themselves, and to think you are behind getting them there enjoying themselves is great. It does take a lot of hard work, especially in the modern day market, but it's worth it!

Q.
Which other DJ’s do you admire?

A.
I like Carl Cox, James Zabeila, Armin, and i love to watch Jules. Production wise, I like Sander Van Doorn a lot.

Q.
Tell us the funniest/most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you!

A.
Hehe ok! The other week after a gig me and my mate got hold of another friends car keys (he was asleep in the hotel). We went down to the harbour and purchased two live lobsters. We then opened his car boot and let them loose inside! His reaction when he opened his car boot was unreal! I'll never forget it. :)

Thanks Genix, see you in a few weeks!

I'm looking forward to playing at Elusive. People need to come along and witness this event! Its gonna rock!
Cheers for the interview guys!
Thanks Genix, see you in a few weeks!
